Gen. Santos City’s 2nd most populous barangay (population: 67,000++) Barangay Fatima finally gets its wish, its very own Parish!

After years of being under the Holy Cross Parish (administered by the Passionists) of Barangay Calumpang (the city’s most heavily populated), the Bishop of the Diocese of Marbel Most Reverend Dinualdo D. Gutierrez, DD, administered the rites for the Canonical Erection of its own Parish on July 14, 2008. This was aptly christened as the Parish of Our Lady of Fatima.

Just very recently, three (3) SHELL Stations opened in General Santos City simultaneously on the same day!

One is located at the corner of Yumang Street and Mabuhay Road which has recently seen the mushrooming of new villages. The other one is at the business district of Santiago Boulevard and the last one is along the the Lagao Highway.

After months of looking for the right person who could help me out in my quest for the suitable “magazine theme” I have long been craving for, one of Davao’s The Usual Suspects, a young engineer by the name of Winston Almendras, finally agreed to do it for me.

As you well know, I created this blog by focusing it solely on my hometown, General Santos City, hoping to create its own niche among my townmates who have moved elsewhere and needed to be updated on matters pertaining to their beloved hometown or for people who need more than the usual “news” about the Tuna Capital.
