My Good Friday images in GenSan

21 March 2008 49 views 9 Comments

It was 10am this morning when i dropped by the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Parish (or Dadiangas Parish) in downtown General Santos City for my Good Friday visit. The Seven Last Words Reflections won’t be up till noon and so I still had time to say my prayers.

After my short conversation with the Lord, I sat down and looked around me, trying to reacquiant myself with this place where my parents were married 47 years ago and where I and all my siblings and nieces were baptized, confirmed, said our confessions and received our first communion.

It has been a long time since I entered this church and despite the totally different interiors (she had undergone renovation), she still emitted the warm, and familiar comforting feeling that made me realize, “Yes! I am HOME.”

Here are the images from that homecoming which lasted until the procession in the afternoon…

This is the only Good Friday in my 18 years of existence that I have failed to spend in GenSan and in OLPGV to be precise. And from what you wrote, I have gone from nostalgic to homesick. I’m glad I discovered your blog. I’d love to hear more about GenSan. There’s no place like home..

    Have a meaningful Holy Week.
