General Santos City once again adds another feather to its cap by topping the Mindanao Qualifying Games for the 2008 Philippine Olympic Festival held at Mindanao Civic Center, Tubod, Lanao del Norte on May 21-25, 2008.

The young “generals” took home 110 golds, 60 silvers and 45 bronze medals for a total haul of 215. They grabbed the lead from the zamboangueños (last year’s champions) who got 101 golds, 63 silvers and 50 bronzes, all totalling 214 medals.

Rounding out the top 5 are Cagayan de Oro City, Koronadal City and Misamis Oriental (last year’s host).

The Tuna Capital cornered most of the loot from medal-rich Gymnastics and Aquatics earning 89 golds from both disciplines.

Regina Astrid Quesada, an incoming freshman at the GenSan’s New Era College won a total of 7 golds in swimming to emerge as the POF’s Most Outstanding Female Athlete.

Here is the medal tally.
