hI jERMAine, mas mabilis mag-marketing ang GMA siguro kaya sila naging media partner. Pero am sure, di pahuhuli ang KAPAMILYA. From what I heard, they will air the OPENING & CLOSING Ceremonies LIVE over Channel 28 and will feature updates on Magandang Umaga Socsargen all throughout the duration of the Tuna Festival…. just like what they did to the KALILANGAN last February.
Masaya ka na?

the items you mentioned are all regarding bodyfest. the only change there is that the august 16 screening in gaisano davao had to be cancelled due to the existing local ordinance disallowing events like bodyfest in davao city. the august 24 screening in gensan will push thru at gaisano gensan. the presentation of official candidates of both miss gensan and bodyfest will happen on september 1 during the opening ceremonies of the culinary expo. anyway for concerns, you can call me at 552-8803.

no offense, TUNAPIE, but i agree with SIR ORMAN… instead of whining and complaining, the ‘generals’ should also take an active part in the festivities, and suggest/come up with other events/activities that can add color to the celebration… i know it’s not easy to come up and facilitate an event; with the tunafest, there’s gonna be a lot… i’m pretty sure the council/organizers have had their hands full for the past few weeks or probably months… it would be very good if we can join a committee and play a role in an event or organize a new gimmick for the festivities…
let’s enjoy the coming tunafest…
cheers!!!

WAKE UP Generals pls.

Two minds are better than one, right? But more minds working are always close to perfect..
For me that’s the basic way of thinking out of the box. Do the basics first before criticizing. God bless!

Tunapie, please go straight to the point and stop your pointless ranting. Orman, gensanite and blackmeat were asking about your suggestions. Why don’t you do that? You have better ideas?
As owner and moderator of this blog, I would suggest that after writing our own negative comments, then we should come up with our suggestions.
We are all generals here and I would expect you Tunapie to write more sensibly and judiciously and answer the reactions up front that your “throwing not so good comments and finding faults” (your words) have merited.
I hope that clears things up Tunapie.
Your comments are still up there, answered by Orman.
Thank you.

Kung noong late ’90′s eh kapag somebody will ask me where Im from, then the first thing thats comes into their mind is “Tuna”–ang isdang kasing laki ng tao. But now, they would immediately associate Gensan with Manny Pacquiao. No offense meant to Mr. Pacquiao ha. He deserves naman the honor and we are indeed honored na kababayan natin sya. anyway back to the tuna industry, im hearing news before na pahina na nang pahina ang catch ng isda. Dagdag pa itong problema natin with our neighbor Indonesia dahil hindi na tayo pinapayagang mangisda sa lugar na sakop nila. Sana makarinig man lang tayo ng any good news para sa idustriya ng pangingisda like yong tinutulungan ang mga small time fishermen sa kanilang mga pangangailangan…Goverment assistance ba…

This is the very reason why our Mayor is suggesting for businessmen to also look forward and invest in other types of businesses. We can not rely on the fishing industry alone because we have to admit that we and other countries have OVERFISHED the world’s tuna supply.
Anyway, the good news is, everyone’s doing their share to be more responsible in their catching processes. The TUNA CONGRESS is still held every Tuna Festival in Gensan where they discuss ways to solve these problems.

With regard to Kapamilya, they’re bringing the MY GIRL couple, Kim and Gerald. Daw ha? And Winnie Cordero will cover the Fishfest sa Fishport on September 2. O di ba?

the sudden prominence of gma in our festival should be a wake up call for the all-mighty abs cbn. i was pleasantly impressed with how gma presented their proposal. they were already winding up their presentation and yet i have yet to hear the MONEY part of it. in the end, we learned that we don’t have to pay a single cent. gma’s proposal is such that they will use the festival to create “specials” whereby they can sell to their sponsors. isn’t that neat? this is what we’ve been telling all our media partners even before. well, creative thinking is really a gift from God.

ajejeje.

@anynomouse – the poster used now with the two kids was not the winning FORM. the logo that won it was that design with tuna bursting around the number 10. i was not part of those who voted but this was my personal choice. i will not react on how you view it but for me, it best suits the tuna festival. so when it won, i was glad. the other “inputs” the final poster — i gave my two-centavo worth to kuya bebot. as festival director, he has the final say on that. so i will leave it at that.
as for the open call thing to participate, i believe the organizers did so and most of those who attended the initial meetings were those interested. kung interesado ka, there’s always the chamber to ask details. apparently taga-gensan ka so you should know who has been behind the tuna fest — ang gsc chamber of commerce yun. sa ganang akin, kung interesado ang isang taong tumulong sya mismo ang maghahanap ng paraan para makatulong. hindi naghihintay ng lalapitan siya o maghihintay ng kung anik-anik na public call. enough said.
sa puntong ranting and raving which i mentioned in my past comment. i will not justify your observation by explaining my side. basahin mo na lang ang mga punto ko sa mga komento ni tunapie. it is self-explanatory.
sayo anonymouse, i challenge you to do your share for the city. gusto mong tumulong, then iwe-welcome kita sa tatlong events ko. magpakilala ka sa akin. at kung sa tingin ko sincere ka sa pagtulong, kukunin kita to be part of my team.
yun lang.

Wow bilib ako sa mga activities ninyo! Unfortunately, i haven’t seen any of these events personally, pero i saw some of them through the internet last year. GREAT SHOWS! Maybe in our next vacation itaon pohon during the tunafest. Is it the biggest fest in the city?
Just a thought please… since Gensan naging sikat sa mga boxers why not get them involved?
Lastly, paki “you tube” naman ang mga finals so we can see them.. mahirap ba gawin ang “you tube”? thanks!
Have fun and enjoy the activities!!
PS: friendly advice: for those who got tired of some of the activities then DO NOT watch them. There are other activities to watch!Thank you.

Di narin kami nakipag-siksikan pa to find the answers. Baka alam mo sir? Or did they invite Dabawenyos din as competitors? Was that supposed to be joint activity narin with TunaFest? TUNA FESTIVAL INVADED KADAYAWAN COUNTRY. yesterday, we conducted the 1st screening and elimination round for the FISHDANCE MINDANAO SHOWDOWN in Gaisano Mall Davao. the ORIGINAL tuna festival hymn was played over and over again and am sure people were wondering why that was happening. anyway, the pre-screening on saturday gathered twenty dance groups with one entry from surigao. the pre-screening was probably too rigid for two of the groups that they backed out the last minute. during the pre-screening, we asked each group to present their original dance steps without music. we also asked them to perform to the beat of the music that we played. by 1:30 pm of sunday, we started the show with a superb performance from the gensan intensity boyz against the backdrop of a big tarpaulin of fishdance. as the different groups performed the crowd steadily grew. dj hannibal was our emcee and although he was sick, he managed to bring the show together with the guidance of director dino veloso. i was part of the judges together with intensity boyz founder jeffrey magpantay and oliver neil buiser, leader of multi-awarded manila-dance group LXD Dancers. in the end, the top five groups that will vie for the top six slots for the finals are the following:
1) body extreme
2) 7 @ myx
3) terpsecorear
4) rj company
5) south crew

Hi! to every one. especially to the author of this site.. waaa lang i just wanna say congratulations! for winning the prize.. I really appreciated all your effort, somehow it would promote general santos. When i found this site i immediately add this site to one of my favorite link in my website http://www.gensankarate.net By the way i am the organizer ng PBA Jr. Karate Cup sched on Sept 6-7 to be held at Oval Covered court as indicated in your 10th Tuna Fest activities. I tought it was already set since already arange the sched and venue as early as july at the office of the sports but unfortunately the venue will be change according to Dong Gonzales and Sir Nanali dahil nga daw conflicts ng basketball championship during that date.
Ok lang…despite napadala na lahat communication to all invited teams all over mindanao and visayas region wherin in the venue is at the Oval covered court… im not blaming Dong and Sir Nanali hectic lang siguro talaga schedule of activities. As i write this, we are still looking for other venue. Thanks to Sir Nanali and Dong for showing their support i just pray na makahanap other venue kasi kung magkataon its a big shame in my part as the organizer kung magkaproblema venue at di matuloy sana naman hindi…..
