Posted by bariles On July - 30 - 2008 - Visited 491 times, 1 so far today

Grabe! Cebu Pacific has announced that it will now compete head-on with PAL Express by offering Cebu-Gensan-Cebu flights three times a week effective August 15, 2008!

A Cebu Pacific plane which just arrived at the GenSan International Airport.  Notice the cars?  Those are for the greeters of Pres. GMA when she visited the Tuna Capital last week.

According to Cebu Pacific’s press release:

Cebu Pacific is adding frequencies to its services from Manila to Bacolod, Tacloban, Cotabato, and Dipolog.

The airline will also expand its route network from Cebu with the launch of its direct Cebu-General Santos (GenSan) service starting 15-Aug-08.

CEB introduces the additional frequencies and announces its Cebu-GenSan operations with a seat sale which will run from 24-Jul-08 to 29-Jul-08. (Gosh! Tapos na! – BARILES) This is valid for travel from 15-Aug-08 to 30-Nov-08.

One-way fares to Bacolod, Tacloban and Cebu-GenSan is at PHP999 ‘all-in’ while fares to Cotabato and Dipolog is at PHP1,499 ‘all-in’.

Candice Iyog, CEB spokesman said, “We will continue to expand our operations and offer the lowest ‘all-inclusive’ fares especially to new CEB routes that have not been previously exposed to our low fares.”

The three-times weekly Cebu-GenSan service will operate every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The flight departs from Cebu at 10:30am and arrives in GenSan at 11:30am. It leaves GenSan at 12:00nn and arrives back in Cebu at 1:10pm.

CEB’s Manila-Bacolod service will grow from 21 to 24 flights weekly while its Manila-Tacloban service will increase from 21 to 25 flights weekly. The carrier will also increase its operations to Cotabato from five-times weekly to daily while Manila-Dipolog will grow from four times to five times weekly.

Now in its 13th year, CEB has the youngest aircraft fleet in the Philippines. It has a fleet of ten A319s, eight A320s, and two ATR72-500 aircraft.

So that makes it SIX FLIGHTS out of GenSan International Airport, 3x weekly. TODO NA ITO!

With that, am encouraging everyone from CEBU to book you tickets now and be here for the TUNA FESTIVAL which runs from August 29 to September 5, 2008!

Joey, that is very true. I just hope their services will not suffer with the lowering of fares. Thanks for your comments. :)

    KUYA AVEL…

    question lang po…

pakyawan pa rin ba ang taxi from airport to the city?

wala kayang posibleng project ang city tourism/tunafest council for free sakay from the airport to – let’s say – pioneer avenue for our guests for the tunafest? i mean it’s one way of rolling out the red carpet for them… :)

    just thinking aloud… :)

    cheers!

well… in the real world, you can either be a ‘whiner’ or a ‘mover’… i’d rather be the latter – it’s more fun… though unappreciated at times, you somehow know that you did something good, made people happy, and added color to the event… how can you compare one whiner to a hundred happy people? it’s not your loss… or you can always say, ‘frankly, my dear, i don’t give a damn…” (quoted from: ‘gone with the wind’; a line by rhett butler played by clark gable)

In fairness to the Tuna Bodyfest naman… it’s always one of the
highlights of the Tuna Festival and it’s been going on and still
going strong all this past few years… gensan peeps loves it, if
not all…at least the majority! o di sana matagal ng sinibak yan
at pinalitan ng ibang activity. In fact, i would love to watch that!
looks interesting! sana maabutan namin ni Ken.
    Cheers to Tuna Bodyfest!

This is good news! at least Gensan got more flights to Manila.
Sana naman wala ng delay noh’! There was a time that i almost
missed my flight back to KL… via CebuPac all the way from
Gensan-Mla-KL. Kasi nga you have to travel pa from domestic
airport to NAIA for international flights. hay na lang!

Anyway, another good news is that CebuPac domestic and international
flights will operate at NAIA Terminal 3 starting August 1, 2008.
So, it’s very convenient na di vah! Lalo na sa mga katulad nating
    jetsetter! hahaha! char!

Before the press release of CEB’s GES-CEB flights, we were given new rates for the fuel surcharge and charges ng lahat ng routes ng Cebu Pacific… Nagulat ako may GES-CEB sector… After a few hours, may notice na ng seat sale para GES-CEB flights.. hehe kala ko ATR lang, Airbus A319 pala.. Well, yung first flight last Aug 15, 70+ lang ang pasahero.. sana mag aabot na ng 100 ang hopefully 150 para maging daily na rin ang service… Well for the GES-MNL flights naman, talagang kulang na ang 1 A320 daily service ng Cebu Pacific… Halos fully booked ang flights pag T-TH-SA-SU and more than 100 ang pax per leg ng flights kapag M-W-F.. Maga taga Cotabato minsan sa gensan na sumasakay kapag mahal ang fares ng Cotabato flights… Hehehe Go GEnSan, Go Cebu Pacific!

sana man lang lagyan na ng aerobridges and terminal bldg. ng Gensan International airport. para hindi na baktas ever pa mga passengers when boarding the aircraft…napaka primitive pa kasi ng aircraft ladder eh alam mo ‘yon?…at tsaka sobrang hirap pag umuulan…may gulay talaga…attention ATO!!!

Posted on August 16th, 2008 at 9:45 PM

  21. White knight Says:

    @Toinks

This will happen soon toinks pag nakita na ng ATO na ang passengers & flights sa atin dito is keep on growing. Davao Airport didn’t have a good airport right away, they waited for many years and so with Iloilo. But look now at their airport, it may not be huge but its modern. Pero ang airport fee will also increase(ave. P200), so we are still lucky here.

It will happen to Gensan, to doubt.

  22. epm Says:

More roads leading to the airport should be built so that other people from nearby provinces can use our airport instead of going to Davao for their trip. Accessibility is really an issue.

I agree. Sometimes when it’s raining it’s really very inconvenient to the passengers. Not to mention that we’re paying for the terminal fee.
