July 30 is Muslim Holiday in Regions IX and XII
The government of the Philippines has announced that, pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 1083 of 1977, the date of Wednesday, July 30, 2008, had been chosen for this year’s celebration of Lailatul Izra Wal Miraj (Nocturnal Journey and Ascension of the Prophet Muhammad) corresponding to the 27th day of Rajab 1429 Hijra.
The new Cotabato City Hall
As per the same decree, and Section 4 of the Civil Service Commission Resolution No. 81-1277, this public holiday will be celebrated in regions IX and XII, and offices and agencies of the national and local government are closed.
Meaning….. Muslims and non-Muslims are all excused from work.
Great! Another rest day for most of us!
