The President and the Congresswoman

When President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was in the Tuna Capital a week before her 2008 SONA, I had the chance again to take her photos when she arrived at the GenSan Airport.  I probably was the only one who was there taking shots aside from the official Malacañang photographer.

It was basically a photographer’s dream because of the presence of Congresswoman Darlene Antonino-Custodio among the welcome group and GenSan City Mayor Jun Acharon.  The Representative of the 1st District of South Cotabato, who is a known opposition stalwart is the wedding godchild of PGMA and it would be interesting to capture the two feisty ladies together in one picture.

Like a tiger waiting for the kill, I was very much ready with my camera (actually my brother Orman’s CANON 300D) when the presidential plane landed at the Gen. Santos City International Airport.  When finally the President of the Republic alighted from the plane, I pounced…..

Finally, PGMA is welcomed by Congresswoman Custodio with a handshake… (this picture is perhaps their first together in a long while)

    Mayor Jun is taller and several ligo more handsome than any of PGMA’s PSG.

    I can’t really tell who is taller… kasi di
    makita ang mga ‘high heels’ nila eh! hehehe!
    Next time… take a close up shots of their
    shoes okey… charrr!

Even if they have different sides Darlene should show respect to her we have nothing to do with PGMA she is still our President even if we dont like her, fighting against her, look what had happened in Manila several impeachment, welgas, coup attempts our President has a very strong personality that I cannot seen to others.
    What ever trials, challenges that comes into her life she is surviving and STILL OUR PRESIDENT until the end of her term in 2010. Pakita nalang natin na suportado natin sya para prority nya tayo sa lahat ng mga projects ng pangulo like cebu

    I agree with you a 100 percent Jasper. As President, she still needs our respect. She may have her faults, but hey, nobody’s perfect! The congresswoman was a good host, as far as I am concerned and went out of her way to even accompany PGMA at the Jatropha plantation in Sinawal.
    I even told the congresswoman, “Ma’am, close na kayo uli ha?”
    Her response? SECRET. ;)

    what darlene did earned her gwapa points for me. she may not agree with gma but the gesture of welcoming gma to her turf made darlene taller than anybody else 100 times around.

    hi glengonz! hahaha! she should set her sights on the Upper House. Her contemporaries Allan Cayetano and Chiz Escudero are there already. She will make a good senator. :)
