Indie films galore @ “CINEMALAYA sa Malayang GenSan”
Great news for all independent film enthusiasts not only here in General Santos City but all throughout the SOCCSKSARGEN Area!!
Bariles Republic is proudly announcing that Cinemalaya and the local government of General Santos City through the GSC Culture and the Arts Council and the City Economic and Development Office, in partnership with Notre Dame of Dadiangas University, Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges, and Holy Trinity College, will be presenting for the first time a Cinemalaya Film Festival of sorts at the CINEMALAYA SA MALAYANG GENSAN.
Click on the poster for the screening schedules.
Cinemalaya Festival is a project of the Cultural Center of the Philippines which started four years ago in Manila as a festival of films by independent filmmakers who could not penetrate the mainstream film industry because of lack of connections and financial resources.
Thus, the festival was conceived to provide an alternative venue. These films tackled relevant issues and presented pictures of the real scenario of present Filipino Society, elements of which are rarely presented on mainstream films.
These films were brought on National Tour by the CCP Outreach program. Now on its second year, the tour has opened new opportunities for the filmmakers who got inspired by the overwhelming reception by the audience. The project is also reaching a broader audience that responds to the relevance and subjects that the films convey.
This year, General Santos City has been chosen as one of the beneficiaries of the tour.
