In celebration of her 16th Foundation Anniversary, General Santos City’s neighbor, Sarangani Province will once again showcase her colorful history, diversified and rich culture and bountiful resources in the week-long Munato Festival 2008, commencing on November 24 and culminating on November 29.

This year, the province has adopted the battlecry, “Ang Galing mo…. Sarangan!

Judging from the activities indicated in the poster above (please click on it for a larger view), the festival organizers have lined up more events meant to delight Sarangans of all ages and encourage more tourists to participate in the festival.

Most noteworthy are the Band Competition among Highschool and Elementary students, the Walkway Chalk Drawing and Painting Contest, the Tribal Sportsfest, streetdancing competition, Search for Pearl of Sarangani, Horsefights, Boxing at the Capitol, “kFite Ded Sau!” Tribal Fashion Showcase, Peryahan sa Kapitolyo and Munato Arcade, among others.

There will also be performances by Davao’s Joey Ayala featuring MSU’s Kapapagariya Ensemble on the 27th and one of Manila’s top bands, SugarFree on the 29th.

Also timed during the Munato Festival are the following – Sarangani Athletic Association Meet (November 26-29), the Groundbreaking of the Sarangani Provincial Employees Housing Project (November 27), and the inauguration of Sarangani Justice on Wheels (on the 28th and 29th).

To the Sarangans, Bariles Republic wishes you all the best during your Munato Festival.
