DFA Regional Consular Office to open at Gaisano GenSan Compound
Last September 2008, I blogged about the plan to put up a Regional Consular Office of the Department of Foreign Affairs here in General Santos City, following a directive from President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. That article elicited a lot of positive responses from Bariles Republic’s readers, especially those availing of their passporting services.
Now, according to General Santos City Tourism Officer Cora Tito, a site has finally been found for the proposed office which will be called the Regional Consular Office of the DFA.
After weeks of scouting for the venue, she added that DFA Davao Consular Officer Daniel Te has revealed that his bosses has opted for the vacant portion of the Annex Building of Gaisano Mall of GenSan. This is the leftmost 2-storey unit of the building which also houses Shakey’s Restaurant, Uno Cafe and Big Chow Chinese Resto.
On December 2, 2008, top honchos from DFA Manila, among them Consular Officer ASec Domingo Lucenario, Personnel Officer ASec Corazon Yap Baijin will be flying in to seal the deal with the Gaisanos for the use of their building.
And yes, before I forget, they want to open the office to the public before Christmas 2008.

this is really, really great news! Finally, after a long search for an office space, they finally found one, strategic pa talaga ang location.

you’re right! They couldn’t have chosen a better site. Beside a mall, imagine? People can just wait it out inside the air-conditioned Shakeys, Big Chow or Uno Cafe in the same building. Super mega convenient! Or maybe do some shopping across the parking area at Gaisano. Nice, nice, nice!

Wow! Finally my location na. Another great news for the Gensan constituents and the nearby and no so nearby town of SocSkSargGen as well. Lucky for Gaisano Mall too for this is another advantage for them. Well, they deserved to be chosen also because of their strategic location and comfort for the passport applicants and ang mag renew too especially. I just hope na sana the applicants will be as much as comfortable and easy for them to access and get their passport right away without much adue. Compared to Davao, medyo mag sacrifice ka talaga because of so many applicants from other cities/town.

I saw the venue and what it needs are shaded areas for the long lines of people everyday. The DFA in Davao has a big receiving area. I hope that this one in Gensan has a wide waiting room too.

BrAvO SiX Says:
@ roro: rule of thumb lang po yan sir. pag walang proper and strict implementation ng rules and regulations sa isang industry, chances are, di kayang i-sustain ang production.
when it comes to investors, nasa local government na rin po yan sir ang diskarte like providing economic incentives or other provisions for the benefit of the investors pag nag put up siya ng business sa locality, etc. kung mahina po ang diskarte, chances are pa rin, either magsipag-alisan ang mga investors or walang mag-invest sa isang lugar.
i firmly believe Gensan has the capability to sustain and attract more bigger industries. one to count is the Economic Free Zone ni PacMan… that’s a BILLION PESO project…
hooah!
