Improved General Santos City Park to be unveiled August 7, 2009

The improvement project which will now cost approximately P34 million owing to the additional appropriation of P11 million to the initial budget of P22.5 million, was started in October 2008. The contractor, Dellosa Design Builders revealed that the improvements to the Gen. Santos Park include the construction of a carpark, a lagoon. a brick walkway in the center, fencing and the installation of lamp posts, among others.
Final landscaping and beautification will be handled by the First Lady’s Kagandahan GenSan Office, including the improvement of the area where the park’s two Dadiangas Trees are growing.
It is not yet sure if the additional approved budget of P11 million includes the installation of a fountain which will make the park even more beautiful. Well, Bariles and his readers all certainly hope so and are looking forward to the time when the Gen. Santos Park truly becomes the Tuna Capital’s major tourist attraction.
Harinawa.

great project!!! cheers!!!
KUY, diba ang “general santos park” kay ang naa dapit sa rey’s store sa silway (kung asa “nag-landing” si general paulino santos sa unang panahon)? and the one in front of the city hall is the carlos garcia park? correct me, if i’m wrong though…
are they renaming the parks na?
sayang lang at hindi umabot to nung kalilangan… but the best part is, daghan na malingaw magpa-kodak sa “plaza” every sunday afternoon… hehehe…
unta bantayan pud nila ang i-install nga fence… basi man gud lagari-on na pud sa mga batang tun-og ang mga bakal, tapos ibaligya kay ipalit ug rugby/acetone/gasolina…
overall, this is a great development in our city… and as DIMPLES mentioned, it’s long overdue… hope everyone will take care of this new attraction (soon)…

ADDITIONAL GOOD NEWS!
The fountain the Mayor would like to include may be realized soon. Lets just keep our fingers crossed that our beloved Mayor will be able to work it out. Malaking budget kase kaya di makakayanan as originally planned. Ill keep Bariles posted on this news

@gensanite, yes, you’re right. Names have been changed already. I have yet to check kung ano ang new name ng Silway park. The Oval is now the CP Garcia park now. The fence is quite low.. 3 feet lang yata. Everything will be well-lighted so lesser chance for misadventures of promenading couples and stoways.
@Nate, it would even be better kung hindi madaliin so that it will only be unveiled when it’s really ready for the world.
@Rammyboi, it’s really a big achievement. Now, if we could only do the same with the Queen Tuna Park and Oval Plaza….
@Orman, I agree with you. It’s a Pedro B. Acharon, Jr. legacy and no one can take that away from him anymore.

The Queen Tuna Park already has a budget but limited to some improvements only. The same with the budget for the fountain, a portion will also go to additional improvement for the the Queen Tuna Park. Again, lets pray na hindi maudlot yon. If the budget will still allow, kasama na rin ata doon ang Carlos P. Garcia Freedom Park (the new name of the Oval Plaza.) The Mayor is determined to make this happen.
Lets do our share also. Baka pag katapos ng mga parks and plazas e parang basura…haha. Tulungan natin ang Gensan na lalong maging malinis (dami makalat dito, tapon kahit saan saan…hehe)

i’m proud to be a gensanian and with this big project that Mayor Jun Acharon has achieved is one of the big improvement of the the city. Nice to know that we will have a place to take a walk with a nice scenery to enjoy and more power to you Mayor Jun Acharon. May we have more improvements to expect. Most especially if cleanliness will be implemented that no one should be allowed to throw trash and citizen will work together to keep our city clean. No street children should be allowed on the streets, they should be in school. Beggars and homeless should have place to go so it won’t ruin the beautiful sight of the beautiful gensan. And we will attract more tourist if visitors can feel safe in Gensan.

The Queen Tuna Park should also be given attention. It’s nice to develop that place coz it’s in the beachfront and it could be a great place for unwinding and relaxing especially for the locals.
