Good news to all commuters and drivers!

Now that the construction of the  Traffic Signal Systems on two of General Santos City’s major chokepoints (National Highway-Santiago Boulevard and National Highway-Jose Catolico Avenue Junctions) are nearing completion, here comes the news that two more roads junctions will also be equipped with the same.

Traffic Mishap incident

The new Traffic Signal System along the National Highway will prevent incidents just like this one.

According to Engineer Rizza Paces, of the City Engineer’s Office, these areas are the : Jose Catolico Avenue and Bula-Lagao Road junction and the Makar Port Crossing.  The first one is in preparation for the impending increase of traffic congestion incidents near the Cookie Factory with the opening of Robinson’s Place in September 2009.

The whole project will cost at least 18 million pesos, according to estimates from the City Engineer’s Office.

accidents are horrific..saw lot of it here.. it’s pretty nasty!

it’s good they put traffic lights on major intersections/junctions in the city…

they will just watch out for BUZZER-BEATER drivers (jumping red-lights signals)..

Well, that’s good it could minimize accidents and order as well. Speaking of traffic lights, how about the corner of along Pendatun and JP Laurel Sts. (near BIR office) and Pendatun and National Highway (near NDDU-main campus) which is also monstrous traffic during morning time? Thanks

Hello How about a traffic light at NATIONAL HIGHWAY – MABUHAY ROAD JUNCTION? There are so many accidents happening in that area and it is very difficult to cross the road because of the buses, jeepneys etc. that dont want to give way.

^^ I just read in Sunstar that SM is indeed finalizing their plans in putting up a Mall in Gensan.. So expect na lang tayo ng traffic in that area in Santiago Boulevard. ;D

  15. Wihte Knight Says:

I agree with love2 that NATIONAL HIGHWAY-MABUHAY JUNCTION /BULAONG ROAD is also a very urgent consideration of putting a traffic lights there because of lack of order in some motorists and tremendous vehicles are already passing there, obviously. Another thing is on SM City-Gensan which already confirmed of their plan. Is our city gov’t didn’t recognize to start paving a six (6) lanes road along santiago street while the SM mall construction have not yet started? Because once this mall will open then it could create a terrible traffic later. So better be prepared earlier than caught in the middle of the mess. I hope this was given a consideration and priority rather than expanding the Quirino avenue which is not yet that urgent need for the general populists as of this time, in my opinion. Thanks…

Question: May CCTV and cameras na po ba ang cuidad nato?
Like other places that I’ve been visited intersections and traffic signals are installed. No need for traffic enforcers or blue boys for such traffic violations. Like over speeding and the like… violators will pay their violation offense while renewing driver’s license. I understand LTO should be centralized throughout the country. By means of these, well monitor accident, traffic flows and motorist (in and out) in the city.

Trash barrels are not good to see in Santiago-Nat Highway traffic light junction! Moreover, the putting up of traffic lights in that junction doesn’t mean tranffic enforcers should disappear!

  18. mike Says:

All major intersections and junctions should have traffic lights!

  19. mike Says:

Islands in the Nat. Highway are necessary as well.As a motorist, it pains me to see drivers just cut across the street anytime. Many morotists are affected with such behavior. I hope the Gensan officials can also do something about it. Our roads are really dangerous.
