Cebu Inmates stage Michael Jackson Dance Tribute
As Bariles’ homage to the man who was intrumental for his love of music, and surely for the rest of theworld, too, he has embedded a music video of Michael Jackson’s “Ben”, from the 1971 movie of the same title at this blog’s main page. “Ben” was one of the first songs Bariles learned by heart and Michael, the first foreign artist he has idolized.

Ever since Bariles learned of the death of the King of Pop, early Friday morning from plurks of his friends, he couldn’t help but be devastated over the sad news, especially when tuning in to CNN’s updates. Hoping that Michael was just in a coma, he held on, praying that he could still recover, get up and moonwalk his way out of his hospital in Los Angeles.
Alas, that did not happen, and Michael Jackson, the legend who changed the face of music is really gone. He was 50.
For this post, we have to digress from the usual stuff knowing that you, dear subscribers would understand as we share with you with a touching YouTube video of the Cebu Inmates (from Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center) performing their Michael Jackson Dance Tribute with songs like Ben, I’ll Be There, and We Are the World.
Mr. Byron Garcia, Cebu Provincial government’s consultant on jail matters recorded this Michael Jackson dance tribute yesterday afternoon, June 27, 2009 while more than 2,000 spectators were on hand to witness the performance of these 1,500 Cebu inmates. Please note that the original video of their dance performance to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” has been downloaded millions of times already ever since it was uploaded a few years back.
As of this writing, almost 300,000 have already downloaded this new Cebu Inmates Dance Tribute to Michael Jackson video at YouTube.
For us here at GenSan News Online Mag, we could only say, “Thank you for the music, Michael… and,
Rest in peace, Gloved One, rest in peace.

Not A Fun Says:
The odd thing in all of this is that nowadays pedophilia is high
profile. Everyone is sensitive about it. But when a pop star like
Mohandas Gandhi or William Clinton or Michael Jackson engages in it,
the public turns a blind eye rather than see their false idol besmirched.
In this current society, the idea that actors/actresses ought be held to “a basic level of personal purity”, is sometimes overlooked or dismissed. Trying to compartmentalize the lives of public artists, in this case an entertainer with his own openly admitted tendencies (not unlike other artists, Woody Allen comes quickly to mind) seems par. But seemingly not very successful.
Discovering openly acknowledged inappropriate behavior in one’s so talented is a shame (and perhaps a sort of personal disappointment), however we are instructed for the health of society it is not to be dismissed. In light of this instruction, and that it is the state’s duty “to compel them (actors/actresses) to lead good lives”, certainly a moment of silence in a public institution for just the talent – and not the man – seems a highly inappropriate example to set. Really I cannot imagine the general public doesn’t find it offensive. It is stated that MJ was/is in debt. He was commonly held in ill repute and often the object of public mockery. Overall, I don’t believe his reputation isn’t besmirched. What I see here now is a media circus because of the nature of his life in conjunction with his now premature death.

There’s an ocean of difference between being accused a pedophile and actually being a pedophile. I can say and claim that you are a pedophile but that does not make you one, right?
Give the man the benefit of the doubt. I’d do the same to you if somebody makes the same accusation.

from someone who spent close to 6 six years in the radio/music industry, i am saddened with the loss of a music/pop icon… last Friday was a sad day for music (and for Michael Jackson fans all over the world)… Michael Jackson’s contribution to music has far encompassed what most musicians have done; especially as his music transcends generations (from KUYA AVEL’s generation to mine, hehehe)…
btw, my favorite Michael Jackson song is, “Man In The Mirror”…
his music will always be remembered…

Totally with Not A Fun on how society choses to close its eye. Though I guess its just proper to give respect to a person at a moment like this and look back to the good things he’s done rather than the mistakes he did. Anyway, no one has the right to persecute anybody except God.
One thing about the video, Uniform lahat pati sapatos!!! Wow!!! Sponsored by chuck taylor ba yun? Sana ganito lahat ng mga kulungan. . . It takes a lot of discipline, Cebu did a really good job.
