Posted by bariles On August - 20 - 2009 - 2,560 views

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo conferred the awards to outstanding barangay Dispute-Mediator Councils or “Lupong Tagapamayapa” that have shown exemplary performance in promoting peace, harmony and solidarity in their areas of responsibility, in a simple ceremony at Rizal Hall in Malacanang last August 12, 2009, way past noon.

Leading the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive awardees was GenSan’s very own Lupong Tagapamayapa of Barangay Katangawan, who was adjuged the Most Outstanding in the Highly-Urbanized Cities category.  See related story by clicking here.

First runner-up was Barangay East Tapinac in Olongapo City, while the 2nd runner-up was Barangay Gusa of Cagayan de Oro City.

Barangay Katangawan’s LP and the rest were judged according to the efficiency of their operations, effectiveness in securing the objectives of the Katarungang Pambarangay Program, creativity and resourcefulness as mediators and conciliators through sustained advocacy efforts in the promotion of Katarungang Pambarangay.

The GenSan Team to Malacanang was led by City Councilor Odjok Acharon, subbing for Mayor Jun Acharon; City Mayor’s Office Chief of Staff Ernie Quisay; DILG City Director Rudolfo Bernardino; Barangay Katangawan Captain Remy Herceda and his council members, City Prosecutor Office’s Atty. Jose Blanza, and official documenter Bariles himself.

The Team learned later that the rites for the  2009 Gawad Kalasag Awards will also be conducted back-to-back with the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards.

@Samara, Sheng, Jinky and Lito, thanks very much for the kind words. I was fortunate for being the only LGU delegate to have been allowed to bring a camera inside. Bahala nang mabasa ako ng ulan to go to the other building where the OPS-MARO was, at least I got to do my job. Kaya until now, asthma galore pa rin ako. hehehe!

Truly interesting. I have been to Canadian equivalent of Malacanang Palace in Ottawa, the Capital of Canada, I have pictures where the government officials including the Prime Minister hold office, etc. I am planning to visit the White House when I get the chance, and I’m pretty sure I will manage to get in for a little tour and some picture-taking.
But as a Filipino, I dont have pictures to show for Malacanang Palace, because we are not allowed to take pictures when we visit.
We just look at Malacanang Palace pictures shared by priviledged few like Mr Manansala (and we thank you for sharing).
Anyway, good for you. Keep it up.
I love browsing your site from time to time (esp when I need a break from the so called “Work from home” and staring at 100 or so pages of electronic documents.
    Regards.
