Crocs™-KCC Mall of GenSan opens soon

Posted by bariles On August - 22 - 2009 - Visited 1395 times, 3 so far today

Yes, you are not dreaming!

Crocs, that weird-looking footwear that has spurned a thousand and one jokes and yet is so uber fashionable that people in the know just gotta have a pair, is landing in the shores of General Santos City!

While negotiating the kilometer-long span of KCC Mall of GenSan‘s ground floor yesterday, Bariles noticed a small sign plastered at the plywood-covered frontage of one of the mal’s soon-to-open stalls.  The sign read, “OPENING SOON: CROCS“.

For the uninitiated, Crocs™, is one of the most in-demand imported footwear among fashionistas today, aside from the Brazilian flip-flops, Havaianas, featured here last month.  It is actually an American brand founded in July 2002 in Boulder, Colorado.

Crocs™ was meant just to be a boating and outdoor shoe but because of its slip-resistant, non-marking sole and despite its unusual form, it was an instant hit.  Looking much like the traditional Dutch shoe for its first models, it has since evolved to also include flip-flops, sandals, high-heeled models and sneakers, among others.

Bariles does not own a pair yet but with the opening of this CROCS™ outlet at the KCC Mall of GenSan (which is the franchisee for the brand in Socsargen), it won’t be long before he can be seen wearing it one of these days.
Just give him time to scrimp on his favorite siopao and save money for his first purchase.

By the way, Bariles‘ shoe size is 7 1/2 (Pinoy size).

Bariles is a Filipino word for “Tuna”, the primary source of income of the people of General Santos City which hosts 6 of the Philippines’ 8 tuna canneries and more than 80% of its tuna processing plants.
The city boasts of the only “Tuna Festival” in the world celebrated every September 5 in commemoration of its charterhood anniversary.
Bariles is also the alias of this blog\'s author who would like nothing than to write about his beloved city by the bay and share it with his kababayans from all over.
He has worked throughout Southeast Asia and Papua New Guinea. Currently, he devotes his time, beauty, and talent in the fields of Communications, Marketing and Media. He is also the unofficial leader of the \"Soccsksargen Bloggers\", a motley group of online journalists who share a common goal to share what\'s true, good, progressive and beautiful about their region and her people.
