In an apparent bid to coax shoppers away from nearby Robinsons Place today, on the eve of that mall’s scheduled star-studded Grand Opening on Monday, October 5, 2009, the KCC Mall of GenSan is headlining no less than the Concert Queen, Pops Fernandez for the final day of its 3-day Mallwide Sale!
This info Bariles got from a poster he saw at the entrance of KCC last week (see photo above). Pops Fernandez will perform at the mall’s Convention and Event Center at 5pm today. From the looks of it, she will sing songs from her latest album HOPE.
This is the second time that Pops Fernandez will be performing live in the Tuna CapiTal. Bariles blogged about her concert here last year. PLEASE CLICK HERE to read it.
KCC Mall of GenSan has also just recently opened two more clothing apparell shops in its new North Wing, Upper Ground Floor yesterday, Saturday.
These are Folded and Hung; and Plains and Prints, which according to reports, were franchised by the owners of KCC themselves.
A third one, CROCS opened a week earlier as recounted in a separate article which you may read BY CLICKING HERE.
KCC also adjusted its mall hours by extending it by one hour during weekends giving their clients more time to shop.
So for Fridays and Saturdays, the mall closes at 9pm. On regular weekdays however, closing time is still at 8pm.
All these changes being undertaken by the KCC Management only mean one thing. They will not let the entry of Robinsons Mall into the shopping landscape of General Santos City catch them lying down.
So watch out for more of these good news from them in the next few weeks.
Meanwhile, the generals could only sit back and enjoy these positive developments taking place, all redounding to their benefit, helping make their city truly Mas Maganda at Mas Masayang GenSan!
Bariles through this post would like to welcome all the 800+ delegates of the 10th National Convention of the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) to General Santos City, the Tuna Capital of the Philippines and the Gateway to SOCCSKSARGEN!
Magandang GenSan po sa lahat!
The convention started last night with a welcome dinner at the KCC Convention Center tendered by GenSan City Mayor Jun Acharon. This annual event will end on October 5, 2009.
Right now, all the city’s hotels, pension houses, lodging houses are fully-booked, an incident we hope to replicate again as Robinsons Mall’s opening has heightened investors’ interest in the city. Yey!
It was the ATOP which awarded the Tuna Festival as 2nd Best Festival – City Category in the country last year. Let us hope we make it as THE BEST of all the best during the awarding ceremonies tomorrow evening.

Isang tulog na lang!
With only one night left before the much, much-awaited “Air Supply in General Santos City Live in Concert“, Bariles is proud to release the names of winners to his contest in relation to this.
"The poster of the "What Air Supply Song Are YOu?" Blog Contest designed by Marthin Millado."
After posting the contest, Bariles religiously promoted it his Facebook account; in GenSan News Online Mag’s Facebook FanPage; in Multiply; in the e-group he put up – Soccssksargen Bloggers; in the Mindanao Bloggers and Pinoyblogosphere Mailing Lists; and, in his updates at his Friendster, Tweeter and Plurkaccounts.
This must be the reason why Bariles received 27 entries... coming mostly from GenSan, a few from Davao and Manila and one from Thailand....
Janette herself promoted it in her Facebook Pages too while Mindanao Bloggers Convenor Blogie Robillo wrote about it in his Blogie Blog, while another friend, Migs Hipolito featured it in Manilenyo in Davao.
This must be the reason why he received 27 entries (minus one from a judge who is not qualified, Orman of Ganda Ever So Much) from bloggers, mostly from GenSan, Davao, Manila and even Thailand!
The sad part however is that out of the 15 superstar judges who confirmed their participation in the contest, four were not able to finish judging the entries as they were all affected by Typhoon Ondoy. As of this writing however, they are all safe and sound with their families and are in the process of rebuilding their lives again. Thank God!
Aileen Apolo, Jay de Jesus, Migs Hipolito (who was in Manila because his wife gave birth, Congrats!), Winston Almendras promised to judge the next blog contest that Bariles is cooking up for the “Sarah Geronimo Concert in GenSan” though.
With that settled, here are the winners as picked out by superstar bloggers (who were featured in an earlier blog post) Blogie Robillo, Jehz Laurente, ChiQ Montes, Orman Manansala, Brendel Balaga, Michelle Lopez-Solon, Bro. Vince Celeste FMS, Mark Aethen Agana, Flow Galindez, and Ms. Janette Toral, plus Bariles himself.

The Platinum Prize Winner is Rammyboi of Otakus Notes.

He dedicated the song, “Lonely Is The Night” to his sick mother. A few days after submitting his touching entry, which he posted in his “A Hairdresser’s Blog“, Lito’s mother peacefully joined her Maker. Our prayers go out to her and to her bereaved son and family.

To all of them, Congratulations!
But wait, there is more…
All the non-winning entries will not go home empty-handed and will receive ONE GENERAL ADMISSION TICKET each!
If that won’t make you love Bariles and Dreamwork Ventures’ Michael Wee even more, then let us all just go home and plant camote.
Again, thank you to all these wonderful bloggers who, by joining our blog contest revealed their hearts and souls for all the world to see. To them, our profuse wishes of good health, happy minds and fruitful affairs of the heart.
Now here is the You Tube video of ABS-CBN Socsargen’s news report by Anne Santos of the awarding. Thanks to Rammyboi for posting it.
And a million thank you’s to the AIR SUPPLY for without them and their songs, falling in love would be a drag. Believe you me.
