GenSan-Manila triple daily flights via CebPac and PAL
While we were all busy preparing for the long weekend last week, the General Santos City International Airport has started facilitating three daily flights to Manila on October 25, 2009!
This came about due to the country’s leading airline Cebu Pacific (CEB) offering twice daily flights to travellers from the SOCCSKSARGEN Area, in addition to Philippine Airlines single daily flight on the same route.
CEB used to offer the 2 GenSan-Manila flights three times a week only.
Now, passengers from the South Central Mindanao and outlying areas can have a choice between morning flights that leave GenSan at 9:20am (CEB) and 10:-5am (PAL); and afternoon flights that depart GenSan at 2:50pm (CEB) on a DAILY BASIS.
From Manila, Cebu Pacific flies out to GenSan at 7:00am and 12:30pm while Philippine Airlines depart for GenSan at 7:05am everyday.
With this increase in frequencies daily, which hopefully will produce CHEAPER FARES due to tight competition between the two giant airlines, let us expect more movement of people and goods from GenSan to Manila and vice versa.
Hopefully, this will boost even more the tourism potential and economy of General Santos, in particular and Soccsksargen in general.
So what are you waiting for? LIPAD NA!

Compared to other cities in MIndanao, mas konti pa rin flights here in GENSAN pero in fairness, improving na ang air traffic ngayon… Kelan kaya ang INTERNATIONAL flights? hehehehe!

konti pa rin ang three flights a day in terms of passengers. kaya konti yan kasi most probably ang cargo to and from gensan is not that big.

If i had an international flight arriving manila at noon, i wanted to go home to gensan the same day and a late afternoon flight leaving Manila is much much better. i wish the two airlines could read this.

I really wonder ngano man sobra ka dako ang difference sa fare rate kun i-compare and MNL-DVO and MNL-GES flights? hmmm…lalo na sa PAL ha…nako ha, I really smell something fishy going on and this is not good and healthy for Gen. Santos air traffic. Tuloy marami pa rin ang tumatakbo pa sa davao para lang maka mura sa fare. nako ha….

talking of international flights (if only you are in a hurry to go home)…no need to connect your flight in manila to gensan. may route sector po ang Singapore airlines sa Davao thru silk air. Singapore-Davao-Cebu-Davao-Singapore.

hopefully magkakaroon na ng night flights ang Gensan but bago mangyari yan the DOTC should upgrade the airport’s instrument landing system (ILS) to CAT II or to a higher CAT III level para ma-facilitate ang flights safely.
The good thing of this categories, the airport can handle aircraft’s take-off/approach/anding even in poor visibility due to rain, fog,etc

problema kasi kung sa davao ka lalapag from say for example Singapore-DVAO, mag travel kapa to gensan. hassle kasi. mas okay ung INTL-MNL-GSC on the same day.

@BrAvO SiX… Well see next year baka ma improve na landing system natin at meron na rin night flight airport natin since meron naman daw budget. I think gensan airport is very much capable of expanding at this point since our population alone grow tremendously plus our nearby cities & municipalities commuters. If only our airport terminal here will improve, I’m sure those who prefer to go to davao will no longer go there. Remember it was featured here that we belong now to the “Billionaires Club” in terms of coffers contribution, so will just wait whats next….

To increase air traffic, dapat maraming tao papasok dito not just in GENSAN but the whole SOCSKSARGEN Region…Paano? TOURISM INDUSTRY!
