ayyyy kaka-touch naman ng mga greetings dito): tapos na ang contest pero from the bottom of my heart, i really thank you, dear bariles, for bring out the best of gensan. when i was studying my MA in manila, my classmates from all over pinas would think of gensan as the city with lots of bombings and terrorism at parang malayo sa civilization. i always tried my best to defend it telling them all the beauty gensan offers kaya ito kakainggitan. now, if someone would ask about it, i would tell them, google gensan.com and you will see how gensan looks like. “ay oo nga di ba lugar yan ni pacman? at naglalakihan nga ang malls niyo, pati mga tuna, airport atbp!!!” indeed, you’ve changed how people view gensan thru your info-loaded and powerful blog.

it seems like im really late for the contest but I dont care. still, it’s the thought that really counts.

Kuya Avel, had called me up last week to inform me about the things that’s going in his blog. He even invited me for a night out but too bad I had plans that night so i’ll just make it up to him and Marz next time. So much for the explanation.. hehehhe.. here I go…

it only seemed just like yesterday when I first knew you in the blogosphere because you came across my “dead” blog. You became my inspiration, my reason to light up the burning fire of interest to blog again. You were the reason why I keep on gaining glories with my blog… from the David Pomeranz Concert until the latest Air Supply Concert and I even gained a 5-second fame because of a local interview with ABS-CBN. It was the most humbling and flattering experience to meet someone like you. If it’s not because of you, I wont understand the real meaning behind dedication, love for what you are doing and determination in the every things that you do. I know that a simple thank you is not enough to show you my heartfelt gratitude to you.

Your blog, your journal, your bestfriend… all this time, it was the reason that connected you to me and to the rest of the Sox Bloggers and even the other bloggers throughout the world. Now that it turned 2, I couldn’t wish you more but just never to get tired of what you are doing because with your simple sharing of stories, info and experiences on your blog was already a reason for each and everyone of us to be inspired and be touched by someone like you.

You are one of the few people I highly regard not just because of your success as a blogger but also because of your cause by which this blog was built from.
Salamat po dahil sa blog na ito, ang mga Generals na nalalayo sa lungsod nila (kagaya ko) ay nasusubaybayan ang mga pangyayari dyan sa GenSan. It was from your blog that I first saw Robinson’s Mall and the new plaza of GenSan.

Congratulations to Gensan News Online Mag for it’s second blogoversary.ibang level na talaga to!…as in bongang bongga!Imagine for 2 years time ,it garnered 4 major blog awards and it rates high in blog affiliations such as blogged.com and topblogs.com. It deserves all the recognitions and awards because the blog is so informative,entertaining and inspirational,thus it gained many many readers.

When I started blogging last February,I have already been a regular visitor of the site.It encourages me to blog . Because of this blog,I gained more friends in blogosphere.I had tried Ottima Pizza in Giacominos because of plurk fiesta and tasted cereal ice cream of ICE CROP because of the bloggers’ eyeball in Robinsons.I was able to watched Pooh and Kaye Brosas stand up comedy show in Lagao Gym(laugh till u drop)and the Air Supply Concert in Gensan(Lagao Gym) for FREE because of the prizes I won from the blog contests .And experienced a fine dine at Grab a Crab with my free gift certificate.Thanks to the author Mr. Avel Manansala.It means so much to me.

It never dawned to me that somewhere in this world; somebody would be as heartily informative as the man behind this site.
It all started one night when Engr. Danny Dasoy looked out for the volunteers who joined the Kapayapaan Kapatid Council child friendly-activity last October at Malapatan, Maasim and Kiamba. It was just a simple checking out of our evaluation and reflection about the children who were victims of war when suddenly he popped very good news, telling that the KCC-DXCP SOCSARGEN peace initiatives blog just won the best Mindanao advocacy blog on Philippine Blog Awards 2009. It was another feather added to the Council and more so to the two best comrades who spearheaded the council, Fr. Angel Buenavides and Engr. Danny Dasoy.
Indeed, I was left amazed with that fresh news. Yet what I don’t know was that someone who has also gone far exists in this place. Someone who made an impact of recognition by just being a proud citizen!
His name was Avel Manansala, the man who garnered trophies of success for such unwavering endeavors, such were the TOP 10 Emerging Influential Blogs for 2008. For 2009, it garnered three awards at the Philippine Blog Awards: the Readers’ Choice Award for Mindanao; the Best Destination Blog for Mindanao and one of the 10 Globe Tattoo Digital Tribe awardees for Mindanao.
What made him more interesting is the story on how it all started:“Banana Snack Vendors at the Oval Plaza Court”, little did he know that such would bang as boom as this now.

Gensantos.com is a verrrrrrrrry good example of how blogs can transform the image of a place. It answers the call of the need to show the other side of Mindanao, in this case, the other side of General Santos. From an “unsafe” place where it only gets the spotlight when a bomb explodes, we have now http://www.gensantos.com to make the world see that there is beauty in the home of the generals….

Aside from that, http://www.gensantos.com was able to unite all gensan bloggers and share the vision and mission to show that Gensan, and Mindanao as a whole, has peace and the beauty topping other areas.

A big congratulations also goes to its owner, my Good friend, Avel “Bariles” Manansala. Someone who exhibits the values of the generals with his hospitality and care to all its visitors and guests. If I am the Mayor of gensan, I would put avel as the tourism head of this city. I believe he has done much to inform the world about what gensan has to offer and to entice them to come to gensan thru his blog.

Isang mainit na pagbati sa ikalawang anibersaryo ng Gensan News Online Mag. Ang blog na ito ang nagbukas ng aking isipan at mga mata sa kagandahan ng Gensan. Isa ring pagpupugay kay Bariles, ang taong nagturo sa akin na mahalin ang lugar na ito at patuloy na nagbibigay ng inspirasyon sa marami na maging positibo at mahalin ang sariling atin.

Taong 2007 ng lumipat ako sa Gensan dahil nakapag-asawa ako ng isang General (tawag sa mga taga-Gensan). Marami akong agam-agam ng mga panahong yaon. Kaliwa’t kanan ang aking reklamo. Na kesyo mainit, palaging binobomba, walang night life, etc etc. Madalas kung kumbinsihin ang aking mister na mag-abroad na lng kami. Subalit matigas sya, talagang mahal niya ang Gensan. Madalas niya itong ipagmalaki. Binibiro ko nga sya na patatayuan ko sya ng rebulto dito dahil napaka-loyal niya sa Gensan.

Ng makilala ko si Bariles at iba pang lubos na nagmamahal sa Gensan, unti-unti kong naintindihan ang aking kabiyak at na-appreciate ko ang mga bagay na andito. Aking napagtanto na marami nga palang maganda dito sa Gensan. Ngayon, mas ramdam ko na “I belong here”.Naalala ko si Bariles ng tanggapin niya ang kanyang award sa Philippine Bloggers Award sa Cagayan de Oro City. Naluha siya at tanging nasambit niya at naisigaw ang salitang “GENSAN”. Di naman ako iyaking tao pero naluha din ako. Kasi naramdaman ko ang mainit na pagmamahal niya sa Gensan.

Hi Avel, Happy 2nd blogversary to this great Gen San magazine online! You have done an excellent job or else you won’t be holding those trophies!

You did a major help in changing the people’s view of General Santos into a must-see place in Mindanao. Through your blog, the world see a better and beautiful General Santos and of course a better Mindanao.

Personally, i can say that you are one of the most friendly bloggers i met personally. Even my daughter can attest to that. Everytime i browse my MBS posts and even passing by your facebook account she would say – “Magandang Gen San!” – that just shows that your friendliness you have showed us when we visited General Santos for the first time was embedded in her mind.

Wish you many more blogging years and a happy fruitful life full of love and care by the people you care and love.
