ayoko nang magtaray. iniisip ko na lang na nung bata pa ako grabe na din ang brown outs noon under KORELCO. back to basics na lang. the other night buong gabi kaming walang ilaw. hindi na ako nagpaka-stress… tinanggap ko na lang. sana magawan na ito ng paraan. anong masasabi ngayon ng archdiocese of marbel, aber? NO TO COAL-FIRED POWERED PLANT PA RIN BA? saan kami kukuha ng power? sa mga pwet nyo?

@Orman, times like this, we need all the energy sources we can use but not at the expense of the environment. The problem with the diocese is that they always seem to be shooting from the hip. All talk and no alternative solutions to the problems at hand. All they do is oppose and chose to believe what they only want to believe. Di nakikinig sa explanation ng iba. Hay na lang!

NO TO COAL-FIRED POWER PLANT PROJECTS! anywhere else ever! Lets go for renewable sources of energy. Perhaps we can make use of Lake Maughan and Baluan Lake to put up hydroelectric power plants and at the same time use it as irrigation sources.

Let us explore our surroundings. We have lots and lots of potential sources of renewable energy…huwag po tayong magpaka BOBO at magsisi sa panahon ng paniningil…@NGC: ayu ayuha lang og drama sa mga brownouts chorvah…istoryahe pa mi… peace out po. XD

Back to common sense… Dapat lang talaga tayo magtipid… And dapat lang tayo maghanap ng alternative energy source… Marami naman jang iba… Wind energy, or solar power… Mahangin ang Gen. Santos kasi malapit sa dagat and sobrang init ngaun, pwede siguro nating pagkakitaan ang El Niño… Calling all intelligent and rich people out there… sana po magtulungan tayo para ma-solve ang energy problem natin… God bless and Magandang GenSan.

Yes, we need to conserve energy. General Santos City is growing, growth also raises the need for power and other resources, the local brownouts were never gone, it only worsened. Alternative power sources needs to be put in place. There may also be a need to examine our power providers if they are up to the task. Is it true that a government entity, NEA is running Socoteco ll?

for your information….
COAL POWER PLANT is the least efficient among all other power plants…
why not use biodiesel, wind power plant, etc….. di ba pwede??
marami namang ibang paraan ah….
“promote green energy solutions to climate change and power crisis…”

This power shortage has been a regular issue since time memorial. Problem is, we cant even find eco-friendly alternatives and add-ons.
We pay much for the electricity but we are not getting the worth of every penny paid. Gosh! Saan na napunta binayad natin. El Nino can be forecasted but we did no do much to prepare for it.
Sigh!!!!
This problem should be addressed nationally and must seek long – term solution and not just blame el nino for it. Our politicians seem too busy with politics than relieving environmental and social crises. Hay naku! Only in the philippines.

I really smell something fishy going on regarding that damned coal-fired powered plant project…una ginawang dahilan ang kawalan (umano) ng hanap buhay or income ng mga taga Maasim…tsk tsk tsk kawawang mamamayan ng Maasim, ginamit nang husto para kumita ang mga gahaman…at the expense of the environment and the future of everyone around that project…at ngayon…nakahanap yata sila ng justification sa nangyayaring El Nino at kunwari daw umaangat na ang ekonomiya ng Mindanao kung kaya kinapos sa enerhiya…ang tanong: kelan pa umangat? as in todo todo ged? Istoryahe pa mi!!

Well, back to basic nalang talaga tayo sa ngayon. But im just wondering why in other places such as in Koronadal, Surallah, etc.their brownouts would only take 2-4 hours a day. Were as ours takes 6 hours a day on the average? Bakit sa atin na we are a big city, with many businesses/establishments depending on electricity have been deprived of this situation. Why?

Mushrooming big establishments the like of malls suck-up most power power produced by old power generating station and not to mention the dilapidated power grid that supply Mindanao including GenSan. I think, it is high-time to built several new power generating station to suffice power shortage in the area.

busijay is right. Look at India, several companies now are busy manufacturing solar devices from solar operated flashlights, solar garden lights, solar water pumping station and more. If Philippine government will also simulate of invest in this clean energy technology, power shortage will ease headship during brown-outs.

why not use the abundance of solar energy that we have? use solar home systems. we have one at home and during the scheduled or unscheduled brownouts especially in the evening we still have electricity. it may costs us initially but long term we will have cut down our electricity bill and be able to help the environment…..

Blaming it all El Nino is bullshit. We have this excruciating brownouts because the goverment officials are siiting on their fat ass doing nothing. They knew all about this years back, but they did nothing.
They don’t care about our problems in Mindanao. Why would they? there is no money to be made here, and they are all sitting in Manila where there is no brownouts.
The Aroyo goverment is the most ineffective, insensitive, unresponsive and corrupt.

but the BEST way is matauhan na sna tayo
its time for a CHANGE. be responsible citizen. we should take good care of our mother earth, pangalagaan. wag n nating hintayin na gumanti ito..

I say no to coal power plants! its a big no NO!
Ika nga nila, lahat ng problema my solusyon.

Best choice will be hydroelectric power stations.
I hope si Congressman Pacquiao will create a task force/think tank to create a plan, blueprint and proposal to push this type of project.
I’m sure me mga foreign investors that are ready, willing and able basta viable lang ang project proposal.
What’s the use of Mindanao River for slow current hydroelectric source?
Puwede pang i-combine as potable water source.
Nandiyan din ang Mt. Apo for geothermal source. It cost some money to build but it will pay-off in the long run.
Pag-hindi stable ang energy supply, all the local residents and businesses will suffer. Pati tourista hindi na babalik. I hope they’ll do something.
On the bright side yong init nakakapawis (burn ang calories mo) kaya lang gutom ka naman pagbalik ng ilaw ka-in uli.
Regards sa lahat.
