Bariles is certain that the title of this blog post really got your attention and your ire!
Although it is already May 21, 2010, Bariles only got word today through his email that the management of SOCOTECO II is applying an increase in the power rates of their residential consumers for May 2010.
The increase which will be reflected in the May billings is eighty five centavos per kilowatt hour (P0.85).
Here below is their letter. Just scroll down to read the full content.
The letter also states the reason for the increase and if you just read it thoroughly, you will notice that the blame goes back to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines and NPC-PSALM.
Please note that in April 2010, SOCOTECO II also increased by around the same rate. This makes it a total rate adjustment of almost P2.00 for just two months!
At the end of the letter, SOCOTECO II reveals that the company, together with other electrical cooperatives in Mindanao are asking the Energy Regulation Commission’s clarification on the ancillary charges for the past two months.
Meaning, dear readers, SOCOTECO II is also in dire need of explanation for all these “pahirap sa masa”.
Yes, P2.00 is how many percent of P5.56? Parang interest ng loan shark “5-6″. Pati system loss kasali sa increase. The contract of Socoteco ll probably needs reviewing and revalidation.
This is too much! Sinabay pa nila ang increase during enrollment. Lalong pahirap ito sa atin! The government should address this problem immediately….Let us see if the candidates we voted last election will help resolve on this issue…
Well the masses will always absorb the increases and cost of inefficiencies of the grid. We have to be aware that so long as the majority of the power supplied to our homes are generated by Oil, there’s no end in the ever increasing cost of electricity.
Our only salvation is to put up COAL Power Plant which is much cheaper to operate and put up a geothermal plant at certain volcanic vent areas, much better if we pursue a Nuclear Power Plant built in Mindanao for the Mindanao people.
As of now Count your blessings!.. Where I am now, I can tell you that the rate you pay for a kilo watt hour of electricity you consume is at Php 57.50. Compare that to Php 5.56/KWH you are now paying…. PEACE and be still..
Don’t ask our newly elected officials to be corrupt…. look at what alternative power generation project they can put up in their tenure, help in conserving energy in your own little ways.
I understand SOCOTECO II officials want to save their asses that’s why they are vividly blaming this crisis to NGCP. But let’s admit it, these companies have the same vision and mission, to generate MORE money for their own benefit. Ang totoong kawawa sa usaping ito ay walang iba kundi TAYO mga mamamayan. They send memorandum, policies that we can no longer question. If we do, it’s either babalewalain o tatakutin ka. It’s true, the government should have control on this issue since this involves the major concern of all Filipinos. And yet, even government officials won’t do anything kase naman nakikinabang din sila. Hindi matatapos ang konsumisyon natin hanggat tayo mismo ngpapakabobo sa pagpili ng kandidato. I can’t understand why they are increasing the power rates when what we can avail is only 70% or less of their services offered.
hayy naku ….MAKA SOLAR NA NGA LANG TAYO….chaaaaariing!
