6-Hours-Straight Twice Daily Brownouts Schedule in GenSan!

Posted on by in

From a faxed message from SOCOTECO II, is the notice that effective May 17, 2010, there is a revised schedule of Power Interruptions in General Santos City.

First, the good news!  Brownouts will now occur twice daily instead of the usual three or four times a day.

But the bad news is, these rotational brownouts will happen on a straight six hour basis!!!

WTH!!!

To understand why this is being done, here is the POWER ADVISORY from the Manager of the Institutional Services Department of SOCOTECO II and the REVISED GENSAN BROWNOUT SCHEDULE.

Please scroll the document to get to the additional pages.

POWER ADVISORY-Six Hours Twice Daily

So here is what you do. Look for your the area where you live in the next table. Find out if you belong to GROUP A or GROUP B.  Now, check for your schedule from the TABLE above.

Feeders Group a & B

I guess all we have to do is to continue stocking up on candles and other primitive lighting methods. Or if we have the money, buy additional rechargeable emergency lamps/fans/lights.

Those are the only things we could do given this worsening situation.

Or better still, with the leadership of Bariles, do a simultaneous RAIN DANCE ala Sarah Geronimo‘s at the OVAL PLAZA and break a world record too, for that matter.

Any takers???

Asa lang asa sa NPC. Dapat mag set aside ng funds so that the franchise can generate a part of it’s electricity needs when needed, or be resourceful enough to get power from other sources. Enough damage have been done, sa next el nino ganyan na naman ulit? That’s just my 2 cents worth.

  2. jinky

hala, what’s gonna happen na sa atong mga businesses? this is something worst na jud with the high billing pa na gi charge sa atoa karon. . .

  3. Toinks

Learn to appreciate a star studded night sky and enjoy a quiet afternoon siesta. Things one can never avail living in bustling city. Let us go for “cleanergy”. Save mother Earth, save YOUR lives.

A twelve-hour power disruption daily even if divided into two sets to minimize the impact is not acceptable nor tolerable in a growing city like Gen. Santos City.

In fact, the Generals have suffered too long. We started experiencing the inconvenience in February yet. It’s now May, and yet, there is no solution in sight.

Now I want to know what happens to the plan of SOCOTECO 2 to rent a 12-megawatt (MW) genset and buy an 8-megawatt (MW) genset?

If purchasing at this point in time is improbable owing to fund limitation, then let’s just go for the rental. Afterall, it’s the consumers who will pay for the cost of rental since it will be integrated in their power bill.

Why can’t we speed up the process? People are suffering. People need relief.

Hasten the process of genset rental so we can find relief from this miserable power situation.

It’s now the time for fast and decisive action.

    SOCOTECO 2, just do it!

At isa pa, nakaya nila magsupply ng kuryente for the past 5 days and up to May 16 na walang brownout nationwide. E bakit may brown out na naman bigla starting May 17???? 12 hours a day pa gyud!

  7. sebastian

this is pure and utterly madness!!!! how in the hell could they think this is a solution in the expense of the tax payers! and they think they can solve the crisis by doing this??? NONSENSE!

  8. anopa

this is bullcrap!! ano tingin nyu sa mga tao dito??? walang pakiramdam… nagrereklamo na nga dati with 9 hours na brownout and 3 times a day… tapos ngaun 12 hours twice a day?? ang laki laki ng binabayaran namin para sa kuryente pero di nyu mabigay2 ang tamang serbisyong dapat na binibigay nyu kapalit sa bayad namin… gawan nyu ng paraan yan…hindi pwedeng ipatupad yang pesteng 12 hours na yan… maawa naman kayo… akala nyu bah hindi nasisira ang generator?? hoi… nasira na generator namin dahil dyan sa rotational brownout na yan… think of those people na uuwi nlng galing trabaho then naga expect ng relaxing na pahinga(manood ng tv etc) …. maawa din kayo sa mga batang di nakakatulog sa gabi… sa mga students sa hindi maka pag study at gumawa ng assignments dahil sa brownout na yan…think of others not just yourself…!!

  9. charles edmilao

whats the cause of this brownouts? you have to explain it in public so that consumer will understand. wla kayong mga kwenta matagal na pala ninyong alam na power shortage dapat naghanda na kayu before this happen… baka political matter na naman to para marami na naman kayong mag kurakot.. brownout 6 hours 2 times daily wla ba kayong mga utak mag isip nga kayo after 6 months.,., wla ng mga business nagsarado na dahil lugi.. nagbabayad kami ng taxes dapat gawan nyo yan ng paraan,. asan na ba yung budget mga tanga….

  10. Eron

Well just leave it to the new mayor. Maybe she and her councilors can think a much better solution for this matter.Or we the people of General Santos City .. needs the support from the new President of the country, or else this city will not be called as boomtown city .. i hope the will find a solution for this thing it can turn the industry down and some of us will lose our job >;(

  11. Toinks

  12. CRISPIN S. VILLAFUERTE

i am a consumer /member of socoteco II.

here is my experience. . . wanna like to share to all.

early this year, on january 2010 i got my monthly billing worth more than what i am regularly paying. . before, my neighbors and i could see the assigned meter reader doing his job. . . with his sidekick (that hand held meter reading machine)

My curiosity grew. . . i inspected my own electric meter only to find out that my billing was over 67 kw. . . and the actual meter reading does not match with the electric billing!

. . yung copst ng sobrang 67kw pwede pambili isang sakong bigas or 1 month supply sa house.

PARA SA GENERALS. . . KAYA TAYO NAGBABAYAD NG MATAAS NA SINGIL WALANG ACTUAL METER READING GINAGAWA. PURO ESTIMATES LANG PALA.

LAGI NAMAN BROWN OUT TAPOS TAAS NG SINGIL. . . ABOT SA 1/4 TO 1/2 NG DATING BILLING.

OY ENGR. OCAT. . . ASK KO LANG IF KAHIT BA BROWN OUT UMAANDAR DIN BA YUNG MGA KUNTADOR????? KAYA MALAKI BAYAD NAMIN.

  13. Incognito Ainur

yati ra oi…power play jud ni (pun intended)…unsa pa nga excuses ilang maisip…kanus-a man welga sa socoteco kay muapil ko!!!

  14. myawski

Stop paying Socoteco 2 electricity bills! Boycott socoteco 2!
LOL

  15. scarlet

this is probably the worse na proposal ever…like what Ms. Belinda Canlas said, bakit di na lang sila rent nung generator, atleast hindi masakit for the consumer na mataas ang bill dahil napapakinabangan nman..

and what the heck! bakit di nila gayahin ung sa davao???napaka-walang puso naman nila.

  16. Yes2Bikeways@Gensan

SAbi ila El Nino ang rason ng brown out pero sige naman ulan brown out pa rin. Tapos sabi sira daw mga makina and kulang daw to generate enough power for all. Eh Bakit lagi nakaya nila for the past six days wala brownout nationwide? He he he. Katakatkatkatkatka!!!!

  17. Josh Rivera

this is BS…..12hrs lang ang ibibigay na power sa gensan daily? ganun na ba kalala ang power shortage d2 sa mindanao? wtf….

  18. white knight

This is not anymore acceptable. Why is it our power problem here is mindanao, specifically gensan is given a little attention in the national government. I hate to say this pero INUTIL talaga….

  19. harlem jude

  24. dean

  27. kristel

    hay naku, kalagot!

    i’m sick of it. WTH?!!!!!!!!!!!
kanus-a pa ni mahuman?! dami nilang excuses alam pala nilang paparating tong ganitong problema wala ba emergency preparedness plan?
brown out na gani pataasan pa jud ug singil!
are YOU NUTS?! SOCOTECO II is being illogical! ok lang unta magpataas mo ug singil kung quality service pud inyong ginarender! walay uwaw!! kalagot!
baga kaau ug nawong maningil ug taas kaau nya cge ug brown out!

WE NEED SOLUTIONS!!!! Habang tumatagal lalong lumalala! WAKE UP!

This is a wake up call to the newly elected leaders. This is one of the major problems that needs your immediate attention..

Come on!

  28. Ian Mark

I think for all of the reactions given by my fellow Generals above, the SOCOTECO II must have their better explanation why they shud do it that way! We understand that there shortage (if there is really?…), we understand that their is no enuf budget for new equipments to help generate or ease atleast this problem (where is the budget n nga ba?…), BUT unfortunately we dont understand why we are still paying high on our electricity bills, based sa inung receipts dahil sa mas mataas ung rate of consumption na kinukuha nu from other sources of electricity other that hydroplants (totoo nga ba ito mga fellow General Consumers?..) kaya sa amin nu pinapasa??

Hindi na po kau dapat magtaka pa, kung bakit ganito na po ka.lala ang mga comments and reactions ng buong general santos, dahil po wla kaung konkretong plano na ipinepresenta thru the public kung ano po ang mga solusyon nu to make this problem answered… Isa pa po, hindi nu po pwedeng sabihin na dahil sa mataas na demand at lalo pang tumataas na demand ng kuryente sa city kaya dapat magtipid at kaya nagkakaroon ng shortage, ay hindi po makatwiran iyan dahil po 10 yrs ago po ay dapt nakita nu na po na ganito ang mangyayari sa city, na ganito po kabilis ang pag.unlad ng city, any way, no more statements to be made, but we just need explanations and fast solutions to this problem salamat po.. Magandang Gensan p rin sa lahat.. (^_^) hay.. hehe

  29. JEC
