Kapuso launches “ISYU KARON Soccsksargen”, a daily Cebuano docu-news program

Posted on by in with 29 Comments

The heat is on!

After months and months of speculation, Kapamilya Channel ABS-CBN‘s toughest competitor, Kapuso Channel GMA is finally launching its first local program in Soccsksargen on November 22, 2010!

To be shown on GMA TV 8 is ISYU KARON, a semi-docu news feature meant to face head-on ABS-CBN Channel 3‘s TV Patrol Socsksargen from Monday to Friday, starting at 5:00pm.

ISYU KARON will be using Cebuano in all its features and reports and will not be a live “hard news” program like  “Tagalized” TV PATROL Socsksargen.

Here is what their newly established Facebook Page says…in Cebuano, of course:

GMA Network and Regional TV presents:

SOCCSKSARGEN ISYU KARON!

mabal-an! Isyung tatak SOCCSKSARGEN!

Hosted by Jennifer Solis kauban si Michael Carbon ug ang tibuok pwerse sa GMA News and Public Affairs GenSan!

Magsugod na karong Nobyembre 22, 2010, alas 5 sa hapon! Dinhi lang sa GMA Channel 8!

Bariles believes that although ABS-CBN still has the edge in this development because it does “live reporting” in contrast to its rival station’s “pre-taped programming”, expect GMA to come up with even more interesting, well-written and presented features which is the strength of its News and Affairs Division in Manila.

But of course, we could also expect Soccsksargen’s #1 Kapamilya Channel not to take this sitting down and in fact right now, they should be busying themselves preparing major major changes and improvements in their news program, starting off with their 5pm local TV Patrol.

The start of this network war between the local subsidiaries of ABS-CBN and GMA in General Santos City could only mean better things for the region’s local television industry.  Competition has always brought out the best among the protagonists and here in GenSan, we can expect nothing less.

So what would you prefer? TV Patrol Soccsksargen’s LIVE REPORTING in Tagalog or GMA’s ISYU KARON’s taped docu-news in Cebuano?

This is indeed a welcome development in GenSan’s local TV text…well, sana lang may news studio rin sila and field reporters plus live broadcasting. Let the competition begin! Congratulations and welcome Socsksargen ISYU karon! Congrats TV8! : )

Let us admit na sort of “Cosmopolitan” talaga ang GenSan.

Actually both of them ang gusto ko! .

Talagang mag kapartner lagi ang CDO-DVO-GES

@KennethRoots: Hindi ah,…hindi kaya puro Cebuano ang dialect ng GenSan…aminin mo, marami ring Ilonggo, Iloko at Kapangpangan dito ah…bumyahe kalang ng 45 min sa gawing norte panay Ilonggo na ang naroroon…I think Sarangani Province is more of Cebuano and Ilokano…While SOuth Cotabato is mainli Ilonggo ang Hiligaynon…tapos may mga tribu pa ng B’laan, Tausog, Maranao at marami pang iba samay gawing Cotabato City…pero lahat tayo ay may common denominator at yan ay ang pagiging Filipino. Thus dapat wikang Filipino and gamit natin sa local TV broadcast. : )

The First TV Patrol Gensan was 1996 Cebuanong balita kaso di umubra kasi not of all Gensan and Socsargen can understand cebuano so they turn Tagalog kaya angkop sa Socsargen. Anyway good luck to GMA. ABS CBN parin ako

GMA TV 8 choose the right start by following the “Cebuano” format way of reporting. Although i’m a loyal Kapamilya for many years, but I find the local morning & afternoon docu-news & other program of local ABS-CBN quite hard to digest in a sense that majority of us here in GenSan and perhaps in SocSarSK used the “Cebuano” dialect most often. If you watched Davao ABS-CBN Cebuano news version, its very lively and natural unlike here. So for that but its constructive criticism. So goodluck to local GMA TV 8 news I know you have full of surprises for us Generals & the whole SocSarSk. But please have more focus to GenSan’s development first since you are based here. Welcome and all the best success!

May mga daily news po ba ito? or panay special features and documentary lang…kasi ang “Isyu Subong” of GMA Iloilo is only every Saturdays which is angkop for a magazine show format.

@omario, that is actually a valid observation. That is the reason why TV PATROL SOCCKSARGEN and MAGANDANG UMAGA SOCCSKSARGEN have always been in Tagalog knowing that South Cotabato has a large Ilonggo-speaking population. I mentiond this to the GMA bigwigs but I guess they are limiting their coverage to GenSan only. :(
