Kapuso launches “ISYU KARON Soccsksargen”, a daily Cebuano docu-news program
The heat is on!
After months and months of speculation, Kapamilya Channel ABS-CBN‘s toughest competitor, Kapuso Channel GMA is finally launching its first local program in Soccsksargen on November 22, 2010!
To be shown on GMA TV 8 is ISYU KARON, a semi-docu news feature meant to face head-on ABS-CBN Channel 3‘s TV Patrol Socsksargen from Monday to Friday, starting at 5:00pm.
ISYU KARON will be using Cebuano in all its features and reports and will not be a live “hard news” program like “Tagalized” TV PATROL Socsksargen.
Here is what their newly established Facebook Page says…in Cebuano, of course:
GMA Network and Regional TV presents:
SOCCSKSARGEN ISYU KARON!
Ang programang maghatag ug prayoridad sa tanang isyung angay ninyong
mabal-an! Isyung tatak SOCCSKSARGEN!
Hosted by Jennifer Solis kauban si Michael Carbon ug ang tibuok pwerse sa GMA News and Public Affairs GenSan!
Magsugod na karong Nobyembre 22, 2010, alas 5 sa hapon! Dinhi lang sa GMA Channel 8!
Bariles believes that although ABS-CBN still has the edge in this development because it does “live reporting” in contrast to its rival station’s “pre-taped programming”, expect GMA to come up with even more interesting, well-written and presented features which is the strength of its News and Affairs Division in Manila.
But of course, we could also expect Soccsksargen’s #1 Kapamilya Channel not to take this sitting down and in fact right now, they should be busying themselves preparing major major changes and improvements in their news program, starting off with their 5pm local TV Patrol.
The start of this network war between the local subsidiaries of ABS-CBN and GMA in General Santos City could only mean better things for the region’s local television industry. Competition has always brought out the best among the protagonists and here in GenSan, we can expect nothing less.
So what would you prefer? TV Patrol Soccsksargen’s LIVE REPORTING in Tagalog or GMA’s ISYU KARON’s taped docu-news in Cebuano?
