GenSan LGU Calendars Past and Present

01/08/2011 by bariles in GenSan City Hall with 12 Comments - 375 Views

For the past four years or so, the local government of General Santos City has been coming up with an official calendar which it prints out in limited numbers.

To give you an idea of the past years’ editions, here is a review.

To start with, the two calendars released in 2008 featured the past city officials and SK officers.

FORMER REP CUSTODIO & MAYOR ACHARON WITH CITY COUNCILORS

The 2nd one below is from a photograph shot by BARILES himself of former Mayor Jun Acharon and some Sangguniang Kabataan officials.

The 2009 GenSan Calendar cum Kalilangan 2009 poster was commissioned by then Festival Director, the current Asia United Bank Vice-President and GSC Chamber of Commerce & Industry Vice-Prexy and Most Influential Emerging Blogger Awardee for 2010, Orman Manansala.

This one commemorates the city’s 70th Foundation Anniversary and features its past mayors and vice mayors…. surely a collector’s item designed by Prints and You’s Ronald Velasquez.

Next, the 2010 GenSan calendar focused on the past administration’s flagship project, the Plaza Heneral Santos magnificently captured in a photo shot at night by Leonard Pe.

This calendar is the first to feature the official city greeting and slogan, MAGANDANG GENSAN.

And now for 2011, with former CEMCDO OIC Egai Cadientej as artistic director, the official calendar features the city’s natural wonders and introduces the year’s battlecry- BEYOND THE BAY.

The featured eco-tourism destinations are the Amsekong Falls, the Nopol Hills, the Bat Sanctuary all located at the city’s highlands and rural barangays.

These places and other outdoor destinations spotlighted on the Tuna Capital’s 2011 calendar is a clear indication that the new administration of Mayor Darlene Antonino Custodio is hell-bent on proving that GenSan has more to offer its visitors other than the usual.

Now if you were to design your own calendar for General Santos City, what would you feature there?  Or highlight?  Let me hear your thoughts.  :)

Well if our opinion is ask if whats design is most appealing, I would choose between 2011 & 2010 calendar as well design. But i just noticed where’s our city website in the latest calendar? We should keep it posted because its the most easiest, affordable and equally important.

its a bold move to promote eco tourism in the Tuna Capital, it would have been nice if the “trademarks” sarangani bay and tuna is placed somewhere…hope the LGU will make these places accessible…there are lots of interesting places in GenSan….

@john, with the new slogan for the year “Beyond the Bay”, I guess what the city wants for everyone to find out is that we have more to offer than the usual fishport complex, our tuna cuisine, Queen Tuna Park and skimboarding, among others. Aside from these, we want them to discover the numerous natural wonders we have which until now remain unvisited and unexplored even by the majority of GenSan’s residents. In fairness, the City Tourism Office, through its annual ECO-KARERA have for the past 3-4 years been incorporating these spots into the race for adventure-seekers, naturists, photographers, bloggers and the media to discover.
For more info on how to get to these places, please call the City Tourism Officer, under the CEMCD Office at (083) 553-8338 and 8448. Thanks John. :)

    Bwa hahahahahahah

    GENERALS! GENERALS! GENERALS!
I really don’t mind calling the people of GENSAN as GENERALS… In fact, I Lili Lili Like it!

We are the “GENERALS” who proudly carry the ” torch of legacy” left by GENERAL Paulino Santos…. and for me, IMHO, the term GENERAL is just apt as a symbolism for the people of GENSAN…
