SM GenSan widens San Miguel Street

04/13/2011 by bariles in Malls with 101 Comments - 9,075 Views

GenSan News Online Mag is releasing the latest photos Bariles took of the ongoing construction of the multi-million SM City GenSan project.

Work on the mall started late last year but at the rate that the construction company has been at it 24/7, we might be able to see the opening of the newest mall of GenSan moved earlier to the last quarter of 2011.

At any rate, the widening of the San Miguel Street (which locals now refer to to SM Avenue) traversing Santiago Boulevard and J. Catolico Avenue is almost finished after SOCOTECO turned over the portion of their property at the corner of Jose Catolico Avenue which is now part of the road.

"TRICYCLES PASS BY SM GENSAN ALONG SAN MIGUEL STREET WHICH IS NOW BEING DEVELOPED INTO A 4-LANE AVENUE COMPLETE WITH AN ISLAND AT THE CENTER."

Once it is finished, the 4-lane road will also have its own center island which SM GenSan will landscape and maintain.

Now here are the other latest photos of the SM GenSan construction…

The last SM GenSan photo below was shot from the 3rd story of a building right across San Miguel Street.

We will be sharing more photos and interesting tidbits about SM GenSan soon.

  2. fahdingding04/25/2011 at 8:28 AMReply

@Whiteknight: 88K GFA is really BIG…. Imagine, Robinsons Place Gensan only has a Gross floor Area (GFA) of 32K, KCC 70K more or less and Gaisano with 45K more or less….

We should really thank SM for giving us GENERALS not just an ordinary SM mall… :)

  3. White Knight04/25/2011 at 12:33 PMReply

@fahdingding: yeah dako na sya that is 8.8 hectares to be precise. Anyway we will know the final facts once it open.

Have you seen my paste tread before in Davao, Iloilo & Bacolod airport terminals? Sana may ganun na tayo later on…

In business. . . money speaks and rolls out and thats how SM’s Henry Sy do his investment together with think tank force.

When everything is done makita nyo ang mga investment ng SM dito sa Gensan. . . it will be profitable as they are.

  9. White Knight04/26/2011 at 1:37 PMReply

@junx0071984. Very nice point. Dugay na sya na problema sa atong siyudad ug unta dili mo undang ang atong city to find solutions on that perinial problem. Services, hapsay sa atong dalan, safety during nightime are very essentials on a growing city like ours. Motorists wala nay disiplina ug mga sidewalk vendors are no longer disciplined. We hope that dili mahitabo sa atong city later on.

Also, sana ang main public market nato will be renovated into a friendly p.market by providing better services such as: water faucet along fish section (to those who want to wash their hands from smelly fish-just like in agdao market ); better stairs to avoid accidents in transferring along phase A to phase B; better sidewalk spaces & wider parking areas in all four corners of the market, etc.

By the way speaking of SM, they have another project in Cebu which is also huge, pls click below:

SM is not the first nor will be the last for our city… In fact, SM will definitely serve as the catalyst that will spark more… BIG, BIGGER investments for our Magandang GENSAN…. parang nakikita ko ang GENSAN as another CDeO in the making….

After the establishment of LLK (LimKetKai) Complex, sunod2x na ang pasok ng investment sa kanilang syudad…Parang ganun din ang SM for GENSAN. Let’s just hope and pray maging ganun din trajectory ng economic development natin… May GOD bless our city GENSAN! :)

The last time I visited Metro Cebu, I was able to visit ang ilang ginatawag nga SRP kon South Reclamation Property or Park. Its is a reclaimed business park which is poised to become Cebu’s future elite address. Bongga jud kay paadto didto is you will pass by a tunnel which is similar to what is in Hong Kong nga mulahos sa ilawm sa dagat. I think its the first ever sea tunnel built in the country. Ibang level na talaga ang Cebu bah…mao jud nang tinuoray nga “Global” nga ginatawag…unya, kita diri sa ‘diangas, ga dream ta to go global unya ang airport og pantalan haskang na-iwit sa panahon…very barriotic pa kaayu. hehehe sa tinuoray ra nga storya…Wake UP GENSAN!

IMHO, our public market should be converted into a modern public mall type with for better environment and services for the customers…

KCC MALL might start constructing their new annex building just accross their present mall (currently safi building, park area & safi arcade) in 2012 .. if so, then i think KCC MALL will have a bigger floor area compared to SM CITY .. but then you’ll never know what will happen next.

not to mention the confirmed expansion of KCC MARBEL .. a proposed 4 storey building at the back of its current mall in Koronadal City .. and a rumored plan to construct a KCC MALL in zamboanga (lot already bought) .. grabe expansion project nila .. whew !

#63. Toinks, precisely your 100% right, hehe. And add as well our bus terminal na hastang pangita jud sa tinuod lang (sorry for being frank). I just wonder if other small cities like Tagum, Digos & Kidapawan could built good projects, they have a very good bus terminal there & also the Tagum newly built city hall which is futuristic ang design, then why could we here in Gensan don’t have those such facilities that we could be proud of? We now belong to a Billionaire’s club (as what BIR tells) already when it comes to earnings, but it seems hindi ito nakikita sa mga facilities natin specifically in our Airport, Seaport & Bus terminals which the basic component of services. Kaya maybe is there something wrong with our local leaders that they are not giving their best?

  16. miggy04/28/2011 at 8:48 PMReply

  17. Toinks04/29/2011 at 1:33 PMReply

Naku, Rep. Its about time na gyud. Speed UP!

  18. rhod04/30/2011 at 4:53 PMReply

I agree with toinks… Kelangan kasi to for the grouping of baranggays sa 2 districts na gagawin for GenSan. Moreover, as of 2007 census kasi di pa lumampas sa 250 thousand ang population ng Polomolok, Tupi and Tampakan. A seperate congressional district daw ang plan for the three municipalities as Polomolok will also bid to be a city.

  22. Toinks05/02/2011 at 8:19 PMReply

@Kennethroots : Sinabi mo pa! Ever wonder why Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod, Davao and Baguio all have fly0vers? its because they are well represented sa congreso. Ang davao nga may underpass pa eh and cebu has got a tunnel!

SM vs KCC vs Robinson vs Gaisano ………….. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
kulelat ang underdog na Gaisano in terms of infra design and structures.

. hirap magpunta doon kaya in KCC and Robinson na lang maglaag . . .

. 2 days in KCC, 2 days in Robinson, 2 days in SM ang laagan natin

    hehehehehehee

    • Dennis Calgo09/18/2012 at 3:40 PMReply

  27. white knight05/03/2011 at 6:11 PMReply

@checkmate101. And the Winner is?…Well hintayin pa natin ang Ayala, NCCC & Kimball Plaza so we can have fair judgment, haha joke.

@fahdingding. Is Solea Hotel a two or three star Hotel? Manila base ba na hotel ito? Its really heartening to know that a courageous firm took the risk of investing in our city after it was idle for a years since Tierra Verde left this building.

We just hope that total renovation was completely done at par to the standards of todays hotel amenities. Their hotel location is very strategic indeed.

  28. checkmate10105/04/2011 at 7:19 AMReply

hehehehehe. . .

Same goes when men visiting their inspirations . . . pag akyat ligaw sa CR unang tutok ng men. . . pati kusina tutukan din. .

. . at marumi ang CR at marumi ang kitchen. . MEANING ME KATAMARAN MAGLINIS ANG GIRL

SO kahit maganda at love ni boy si inday . . babay na. . ,

@White Knight: We’ll see if tapos na ang SOLEA….

With the coming SM… let us expect more investments coming into our city like HOTELS and other MALLS…

MICROTEL INN AND SUITES will soon invade our city… Plus, baka magising na ang ROYALE Hotel and finally, they will pursue at last their planned expansion…

But I surmise, the QUALITY OF ROOMS will compensate with the lack of QUANTITY.

Maliit nga for a five storey hotel. Hindi pa naman siguro final yan or ang bldg is not solely for hotel purpose, baka boutique hotel ang dating or ala Sun City Suites archade sya.

Whatever, kung tutuo man itong balita its worth seeing. Any improvements/structures/buildings along this SM Avenue aside from the giant mall is very much welcome among us Generals, this im pretty sure.

Here’s another potential BIG NEWS for Gensan:

    (Excerpt)

“The pound-for-pound king is also planning to build a mall, to be christened MP Mall, in General Santos City, a multi-million project which will not only employ hundreds of people from its construction to its operation, but is also expected to earn more profit to the new power couple.”

I think this news about Manny’s plan to put up a Mall & Hotel was first heard last year over this blog of Mr. Bariles, if im not mistaken.

It’s good that he’s pursuing it. Its a good a decision to invest with this kind of business. Sana makakuha siya ng magandang location here in GenSan inorder to compete with other existing giant malls. In that news of Manila Standard, he plan to purchase a house & lot in Makati at a whooping amount of P300K? Iba talaga pag may pera. If I were Manny I would rather invest in an income generating properties kesa sa house since ang dami nya ng bahay. But since its his hard earned money, he has all the rights to do whatever he wants. Just a piece of unsolicited advise, hehe.

  41. fahdingding05/12/2011 at 8:21 AMReply

I haven’t seen the blog of Sir Avel specifically pertaining to Manny’s planned Mall and Hotel.

Doon, magiging malakas talaga yang MP Mall kasi wala silang kalaban doon na part and then the market is very huge considering the fact Calumpang is the most populous barangay in the city and is bounded by Labangal and Fatima, 2 of the most populous barangays (Fatima ranked 2nd behind Calumpang, Labangal ranked 3rd). MP Mall will be alright as long as it is far far away from the GIANT MALL not unless MP MALL wants to compete with them TOE TO TOE just like Manny’s trademark in the ring…

Let’s hope and pray na itong mga big projects ni Manny ay marealize soonee or later… INSHAALLAH!

God Bless Manny and Jinkee! God Bless GENSAN!

  42. fahdingding05/13/2011 at 5:43 PMReply

    • bariles05/14/2011 at 9:44 AMReplyAuthor

@Fahdz, a bigwig of STI, the building behind the area of the proposed Bay Leaf also confirmed that. However the owners of Bayleaf (the Teng Family of Kimball fame) will have to change their initial design of the hotel because they just bought the property behind CASA LUISA which means, they have a wider lot on where to construct it. O di ba? Thanks.
