On Saturday, June 25, 2011, the Soccsksargen Bloggers and their Facebook friends will be joining the Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) in an activity in celebration of the National Environment Month – a MANGROVE TREE PLANTING PARTY!!!

The activity will be held at the Minanga Mangrove Forest Park, Minanga, Buayan, General Santos City starting at 6:00am!  Check out the beautiful poster designed by blogger Rabsky Villanueva below.

Volunteers are requested to wear slippers or flip-flops, the sturdy type plus shorts.  Mangrove tree saplings will be provided by the staff of CENRO Chief Val Lastimosa.

If you want to join in, please check out the Mangrove Tree Planting Party Event Page on Facebook by CLICKING HERE.  Or you may just go to the Minanga Mangrove Park directly.  It is easy to locate.  Just follow the Bula-Amao Road from GenSanville and go straight past Asinan, Buayan and way past the old Buayan Airport airstrip until you reach a small fishing village called Minanga.

Below is the  screen capture of a Google Map which will show you where it is.  Click on it for a LARGER VIEW.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Bariles is a Filipino word for “Tuna”, the primary source of income of the people of General Santos City which hosts 6 of the Philippines’ 8 tuna canneries and more than 80% of its tuna processing plants.

The city boasts of the only “Tuna Festival” in the world celebrated every September 5 in commemoration of its charterhood anniversary.

Bariles is also the alias of this blog's author who would like nothing than to write about his beloved city by the bay and share it with his kababayans from all over.
