Fitmart Mall of Koronadal acquired by Gaisano Cebu Group

GenSan News Online Mag just found out that the Fitmart Mall of Koronadal has recently changed owners!

In a move which surprised their employees, staff and tenants, the owners of Koronadal’s troubled shopping center signed papers two weeks ago selling the mall property to one of the Gaisano groups of Cebu!

The deal basically surrenders the ownership and management of the mall and all the existing tenants to the new owners.  The flagship stores, Fitmart Department Store and Fitmart Supermarket will eventually close shop and have to move out by September 1, 2011, according to Bariles’ reliable source.  These two areas will then remain closed and will undergo renovation for two months before Gaisano Department Store and Gaisano Supermarket take over.

Right now, the engineers of the acquiring Gaisano group (no idea whether it’s the Gaisano Grand Group or the Gaisano Capital Group) have gone up to Koronadal and have started planning out renovation activities on the mall.

This is a wise move for the owners of Fitmart Mall who still have good-performing stores in GenSan, downtown Koronadal and Tacurong cities. Unloading their white elephant in Koronadal to the Gaisano group is the best and most practical thing to do before their creditor banks beat them to a pulp.

And for sure, with the entry of the Gaisano’s of Cebu (who do not have anything to do with Gaisano Mall of GenSan which is owned by the DSG Group) in South Cotabato, more excitement are in store for the province’s consumer market!  (And more headaches for KCC Malls which also has to contend with the soon-to-open SM Mall GenSan!)

What an exciting year indeed for South Central Mindanao!

With that, all we can say right now is, “Goodbye Fitmart Mall of Koronadal!  Thank you for being an alternative shopping destination for us!

And lest we forget due to excitement, “Hello Gaisano Mall of Koronadal!  Welcome to  Koronadal and Soccsksargen!!!  Kanami gid!”

By the way, Fitmart Department Store at the Fitmart Mall of Koronadal is now conducting a MAJOR CLOSING OUT SALE of as much as 80% discount on selected items until August 30, 2011!

congrats to Gaisano… and thank you to Fitmart… aggressive ang take-overs ni Gaisano lately, maski dito sa cebu… since last year, they bought out a chain of 24-hour convenience stores…

What a surprise!!! Really unexpected! Pero this is a very strategic move for Fitmart since Fitmart Mall of Koronadal is giving them headaches. Welcome Gaisano, hope they can revitalize and make the mall exciting for the people of Socksargen.

After many years, or months of speculating that the Gaisano Group’s planned entry to Marbel has finally been cleared. I think the Gaisano’s has no option but to buy-out Fitmart Mall since theirs no other strategic place in Marbel requiring sizeable areas & a bit accessible. In a way Fitmart enables to breathe in their creditors & probably earned some revenues over the deal.

It could also be the same owner (Gaisano Grand Group) that has currently constructing a small size mall in Digos City going to Kidapawan. Now its in the hands of the Gaisano’s how to make their newly acquired mall fully alive & competitive in Koronadal City. Let’s see..

this is expected….asa ka kakita ug mall nga ang iyang dept store mas daghan pa sales attendant kesa customer?…(parang robinson gensan….heheheheheheh)

Let’s hope ROB – GENSAN will not suffer the same fate of FITMART MALL of Marbel… I’m just curious what will they do in the face of upcoming SM onslaught and looming KCC expansion…. Obviously, ROB will be greatly affected by these developments. GAISANO?!? hilom2x lang…pero they still have a strategic location between SM and KCC unlike sa ROB na isolated sa tatlo….

THE MALL WAR IN GENSAN is now escalating into new heights… let’s hope each of the BIG 4 will be able to compete with each other on equal footing… Wala sana ma KO!!!

WELCOME 2nd GAISANO in SocSkSarGen.. Tama ba???

A brother owns 3 Jollibee outlets in GenSan: Robinsons, the 24/7 Highway Drive-Thru and the new Calumpang Drive-Thru.
Re: Robinsons, napansin ko rin yun. They are preparing a major re-imaging in 2012. Watch out for it. :)

In a business theirs really an ups and down. Remember SM Davao before? a year after they opened their first Mindanao mall medyo humina rin sila but later on they bounced back and till now steady na sales nila and expanding. I don’t think Robinsons Gensan would contend being a 2nd priority. They been to this business the same with SM & the Ayalas for a long time, they know the market well. For sure they will innovate and find ways how to make their mall interesting again. And they have not done yet, how about their hotel & BPO’s at the back of their mall? Dumaan ako the other day sa Rob (it was thurs, that’s around 2-3pm) and I wast happy to see that a lot of people are shopping, roaming and enjoying, puno ang parking space. Rob will not experienced what Fitmart Mall gone through. So nothing to be alarmed, actually…

    @White Knight, True! :)

Kung hindi ba naman kasi tanga ang Fitmart owners. One of the reasons the people of Marbel prefers KCC is because of Jollibee/Chowking. Bisan ang mga may car KCC lang gihapon dahil sa fastfood.

And ang tsismis pa daw halos hindi daw magkasya pambayad kuryente ang income sa mall nila so gibenta na lang nila. How embarrassing.

God Bless Gaisano!
