Registration is now open for those who want to join the 4th National ICT Summit slated in GenSan on November 3 – 5, 2011!

This, according to Mr. Ronald Velasquez, president of the ISA 12 (ICT Solutions Association – Region 12) based in General Santos City.

According to their poster above:

This coming November 4, 5, and 6, our ICT councils, firms, and groups from all over the Philippines will converge here in General Santos City for the much-awaited 4th National ICT Summit to be held at KCC Convention Center, KCC Mall of Gensan. The theme for the summit is “NICP: Championing Country-Wide Digital Development”. We will be expecting distinguished representatives coming from government ICT institutions, private sector, the academe, and other key collaborators to collaborate with us on our vision and strategies.

Previous national ICT summits held in Iligan City, Subic, and Bacolod City have been resounding successes. This year’s gathering envisions to follow through and build on the unity we have established in previous summits. Let us continue to be the recognized national venue for collaboration, share best practices, and be the unified voice for the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Industry of the Philippines.

Mr. Egai Cadiente who designed the logo, has this explanation for the arrow in it:

The arrow pointer is an indispensable icon in computing technology. It is the only free moving icon inside the computer screen which can be moved in all directions as one’s hand manipulates the mouse. In short it is one’s “virtual hand” inside the screen.

Simple as it is powerful, the icon is an apt visual rendering of this year’s convention logo as it portrays the dynamic potency of navigation, exploration, discovery, and direction – the very essentials of growth as NICP continues to champion countrywide digital development.

The pointer also lends itself as an arrow pointing upwards conveying a rising, nay, growing direction which is what NICP envisions for the country’s ICT industry.

Incidentally, the Soccsksargen Blogfest Year 2 will also happen in the midst of the 4th National ICT Summit on November 5, 2011.  Watch for our formal announcement about it soon!
