The Governor is now a Daddy!

Posted by bariles On October - 10 - 2011 4 COMMENTS

We are happy for Sarangani Governor Miguel Dominguez whose wife Tisha gave birth to a bouncing baby girl on Sunday, October 9, 2011.  The baby who weighs 7.6 pounds will be christened Mariana Gabrielle.

Mariana’s dad and mom just got hitched in December 2010 in solemn rites at the Four Seasons Hotel Macau attended only by their closest relatives and friends.

Governor Migs is a constant reader of this blog and a long-time friend and supporter of the Soccsksargen Bloggers. Bariles first met his lovely wife, Tisha when she opened her store, Sunlab at Robinsons Place GenSan two years ago and which he blogged about after. (Read it here.)

Through this post and on behalf of GenSan News Online Mag‘s readers,  Bariles would like to greet both of them, “Congratulations on your first bundle of joy! More! More! More!”  :)

Meanwhile we are leaving you with an exclusive first photo of Mariana Gabrielle, courtesy of her proud dad.

Note: Thanks to brideandbreakfast.ph for the wedding photo of Mr. & Mrs. Miguel Dominguez.

Traffic Signalization Systems at Robinsons and Makar inaugurated

Posted by bariles On October - 7 - 2011 15 COMMENTS

Just when most of us weren’t looking, Mayor Darlene Antonino-Custodio and Congressman Jun Acharon both inaugurated the new traffic signalization systems at the Makar Wharf Junction and the National Highway-Bula Lagao Road-Misa Street at the corner of Robinsons Place.

The momentous occasion happened during the morning of the 34th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law by former President Ferdinand Marcos on September 21, 2011.  It was attended by employees of the City Hall led by Assistant City Administrator Glennville Gonzalez who also emceed the short program at the Robinsons Car Lot, City Engineer’s Office’s Rizza Paces & Mylene Gecosala (who provided the photos here), LTO City Chief Ismael Almanza, management personnel of Robinsons led by Roy Unso, and members of the media, among others.

"CONGRESSMAN JUN ACHARON & MAYOR DARLENE ANTONINO-CUSTODIO WITH ASSISTANT CITY ADMINISTRATOR GLENNVILLE GONZALEZ AT THE BLESSING OF THE TRAFFIC LIGHTS AT THE CORNER OF ROBINSONS PLACE GENSAN."

The whole project costs the city P21.2 million and is the second phase of the Traffic Signalization System Project started during the administration of then Mayor Acharon.  The first phase was inaugurated on August 7, 2009.  Read about it by clicking here.

In the pipeline are traffic lights at the crossroads of National Highway-NDDU and Aparente Street and at the Bulaong Road-National Highway crossing.  What do you think?  Where should the next traffic lights be?

Manny Pacquiao is Esquire Philippines Magazine’s first cover

Posted by bariles On October - 6 - 2011 3 COMMENTS

Eight-division World Boxing Champion Manny Pacquiao is on the cover of the first issue of the Philippine edition of Esquire Magazine which just came out this month of October.  Esquire Magazine is a legendary American men’s mag which has been in publication since 1932.

The cover lensed by photographer Roy Macam features Congressman Manny Pacquiao in a tuxedo minus a tie, looking every inch the politician that he is.

Inside, the new magazine features a five-part cover story on Pacquiao, one written by his “unauthorized” biographer Gary Andrew Poole who published “PacMan: Behind the Scenes with Manny Pacquiao–the Greatest Pound-for-Pound Fighter in the World“, the book which has earned the ire of what Poole said is his “bloated entourage“.

This time, Poole’s article is entitled, “Maturation of Manny Pacquiao“.  Read excerpt by clicking here.

If you want a copy of this collector’s edition of Esquire Philippines Magazine with its Manny Pacquiao cover, be sure to shell out P195.  Check out your favorite supermarket counter magazine stand.

Jollibee Drive-thru Calumpang opens this month

Posted by bariles On October - 4 - 2011 20 COMMENTS

Good news to all Jollibee fanatics out there at the western portion of General Santos City!

You do not have to go downtown anymore to get your Jollibee fix!  The city’s second Jollibee Drive-Thru Branch will open on October 30, 2011 along the National Highway in Barangay Calumpang, right beside Rowell Canning Corporation, at the corner of the side street leading to the Antonio Acharon Sports Complex.

To be known as Jollibee Calumpang, this store is the seventh Jollibee outlet in the Tuna Capital!

"JOLLIBEE DRIVE-THRU CALUMPANG'S FRONT EXTERIOR PERSPECTIVE"

Jollibee Calumpang will be operated by the Teng Family, the same people behind Jollibee-Highway Drive-Thru and Jollibee Robinsons.  If the people’s response in the area is highly favorable, the outlet might operate on a 24-hour basis after a few months.

Take note that Jollibee Calumpang will be serving the heavily-populated barangays of Calumpang, Tambler, Fatima and a portion of Labangal.  It will also cater to the needs of the tuna industry workers of the city stationed nearby, which is basically the backbone of GenSan’s economy.

And what more, for people rushing to the airport, they can just pull into Jollibee’s drive-thru lane which has two entrances (National Highway and the Sports Complex road) and treat themselves to their favorite Jollibee take-outs!  OR, they can park their cars for a while in their 18-slot parking grounds and take a quick bite inside their sunrise-facing dining area!

"JOLLIBEE DRIVE-THRU CALUMPANG'S RIGHT SIDE PERSPECTIVE"

And here’s more great news!  Jollibee Calumpang also will be offering the following Opening Salvo Promos cleverly timed during the Kalag-Kalag or Halloween… (Uhaw Cemetery is just nearby)…..

October 30, 2011:

  • Free Jollibee Umbrella for the first 200 Dine-in and Take-Out Customers with Chicken Joy or Chicken Barbecue BUCKET Purchases
  • Free Jollibee Umbrella for the first 200 Drive-Thru Customers with Chicken Joy or Chicken Barbecue BUCKET Purchases

October 31 – November 1, 2011 (Halloween)

  • Free Thermal Tumbler for the first 200 Dine-in and Take-Out Customers with Chicken Joy or Chicken Barbecue Bucket Purchases
  • Free Jollibee Car Shade for the first 200 Drive-thru Customers with Chicken Joy or Chicken Barbecue Bucket Purchases

With all these in store for the people of Calumpang, hopefully, in due time, this store will turn out to be the most profitable Jollibee outlet in the city!  PROMISE!
