Robinsons presents Cirque Internationale’s World’s Greatest Performers

Posted by bariles On December - 7 - 2011 6 COMMENTS

For the first time ever this Christmas, the people of General Santos City will be treated to a spectacular holiday offering  featuring the “world’s greatest performers” courtesy of Robinsons Place GenSan!

The mall which prides itself as “Mas Maganda Dito!” will be flying in a touring circus show, “CIRQUE INTERNATIONALE” direct from the United States of America this Sunday, December 11, 2011!

To enthrall Robinsons’ shoppers of all ages and sizes with their amazing skills and breath-taking stunts are: a Hula-hoop dancer, a Hand Juggler, a Strong Man and acrobatic troupe Icarian!

The last time GenSan was witness to international circus performers was way back in the 80′s when the Royale London Circus set up tent here for a month.  Now, thanks to Robinsons Place GenSan, new generations of generals will be treated to a modern breed of world-class artists and what’s more, it’s for FREE.

Robinsons‘ management would like to emphasize that there is NO MINIMUM PURCHASE REQUIREMENT to enjoy their once-in-a-lifetime thrilling Christmas treat for the people of GenSan!

And yes, check out the Cirque Internationale satellite-selling booths inside Robinsons where you can find souvenir items on sale.

Catch Cirque Internationale‘s World’s Greatest Performers in any of their two performances at the Activity Center of Robinsons Place GenSan, at 2:00pm and 4:00pm

Be there and bring the whole family with you!!!

Coming Soon in GenSan: Top 7 Mart

Posted by bariles On December - 6 - 2011 2 COMMENTS

Was buying some fresh frozen tuna products at my favorite Pacific Seas Seafood Market for the Blogfest Soccsksargen 2.0 Speakers last week when I noticed a frenzied construction activity right across the highway from the store.

Right between the Tandem Center Building housing the popular joint Veranda and the CED Buildings is what seems to be the makings of a big warehouse.  Upon closer look, I saw this yellow billboard at the front part of the property.

It’s an announcement of a soon-to-open MINI-MARKET (as the billboard says), named TOP 7 Mart.

The billboard goes on to say:  ”For Inquiries, please call 0922-8500111.

And obviously, TOP 7 Mart is also owned by the Tan Family, who owns the Tandem Center Building 7 and Veranda since the billboard also says: “Submit your resume/biodata at the Veranda Cashier.”

I hope this new business is sort of like a one-stop warehouse club where we can just buy anything without going through the long lines of today’s malls in GenSan.  That sure would be a welcome development.

Teatro Ambahanon qualifies for Showtime’s National Grand Finals

Posted by bariles On December - 5 - 2011 5 COMMENTS

General Santos City must be beaming proud again these days with the third major win of local contemporary dance group, Teatro Ambahon at ABS-CBN’s daily talent search, Showtime last Saturday, December 3, 2011.

By winning the Monthly Finals, after hurdling the Daily and the Weekly competitions, (see video HERE)  the three-member dance ensemble composed of Julius Lagare, Roy Misoles and Beauty Balaga clinched a spot at the National Grand Finals scheduled this Saturday, December 10, 2011!  Whew!

Here’s the mirror video of Teatro Ambahanon‘s awesome winning performance and the reactions of the studio audience and the judges.  Check it out!

Share this to all the generals you know and together, let us hope that Teatro Ambahanon wins the P1,000,000 Grand Prize just like the other GenSan champions ahead of them, XB GenSan and True Colors who were Showtime’s 1st and 3rd Barangayan Champions respectively.

Winners of the Phil. Blog Awards for Mindanao 2011

Congratulations to the winners of the Philippine Blog Awards for Mindanao 2011!

Their names were announced during a riotous and fun-filled awarding ceremony presented by the Circle of Arts on Saturday, 7pm at the Bali Ballroom of the East Asia Royale Hotel.

Since most of the attendees just came from the day-long Blogfest Soccsksargen 2.0 at the next-door SunCity Suites, event organizer Chiclet Rillo made sure that the event will be one stress-free, laugh-out-loud experience for everyone.  And yes, she and hostest-with-the-mostest Donna Mae Congson of Kikaymuch.me did not disappoint.

Before each category winner was called, Donna Mae came out as different characters with matching production numbers; most notable are those involving Miss GenSan 2008 Romarie Cunanan (for the Beauty & Fashion Blog Category) and another one with three dancing waiters of the hotel (for the Food Blog Category).

Joining her as presentors were CameraHauz’s Joseph Chua Kao (for Photo Blog Category), Davao Bloggers Brendel Balaga & Lyle Santos (for Personal Blog Award), Blogfest Sox’s speakers Mae Paner & Flow Galindez (Tech Blog Category), GenSan Gazer Publisher Mandi Nicolas (Travel Blog Award), interior designer Rain Ramas & hilarious restaurateur Dimples Odi who came in as a sexy Donna Summer (Lifestyle Blog Award), GenSan Hotelier  Association Prexy Philip Pabelic (Food Blog Award) and GSC Chamber of Commerce & Industry Inc. Executive Director Bench Tacumba.

The evening commenced with a sumptuous dinner co-hosted by our friends from the GSC Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Inc.  A 32-kg whole fresh tuna straight from the GSC Fishport satisfied the attendees craving for sashimi, courtesy of GenSan News Online Mag!

Bariles is a Filipino word for “Tuna”, the primary source of income of the people of General Santos City which hosts 6 of the Philippines’ 8 tuna canneries and more than 80% of its tuna processing plants.

The city boasts of the only “Tuna Festival” in the world celebrated every September 5 in commemoration of its charterhood anniversary.

He has worked throughout Southeast Asia and Papua New Guinea. Currently, he devotes his time, beauty, and talent in the fields of Communications, Marketing and Media.

He is also the unofficial leader of the Soccsksargen Bloggers, a motley group of online writers who share a common goal to write what\'s true, good, progressive and beautiful about South Central Mindanao and her people.
