SOCOTECO II implements 20-hour Brownout Schedules
SOCOTECO II started its annual preventive maintenance last night, Friday, February 10, 2011 upon a mostly unsuspecting public in General Santos City.
The power cooperative has been announcing an upcoming 20-hour power interruption for almost a week now but the information still escaped a lot of people who bombarded the different radio stations in the city with complaints!
Anyway, these long brownouts will occur only once for all areas served by SOCOTECO II with each substation scheduled on different days until February 23, 2012. The transformers of all these substations will undergo various diagnostic and preventive tests to foresee any “imminent failure”.
Check out your area from the SOCOTECO II Brownout Schedules below so that you can prepare yourselves either by buying emergency light sources and charging the batteries of your can’t-live-without-them cellphones, laptops and other electronic equipment.

Have an enjoyable, stress-free brownout everyone! :D

Conal Holdings intends to put up a coal-powered plant here in the SOCSARGEN area, but it does not have money to do the same. Thus, it applied for a multi-million loan from one of the local banks, but the same loan application can only be approved if SOCOTECO II guarantees payment for said loan. In fact, SOCOTECO II, under this subject contract, is the one responsible to collect money for the purpose of paying the loan from the local power consumers. So, we have here foreign investors who came empty-handed and invest out of money borrowed from our local funds, and embroiled us unwillingly into their evil schemes.
