I very recently received email invites from Ms. Justine Mae Acharon, Public Relations Officer of SM City General Santos to two separate events unfolding this week.

The invites are for the turnover of SM Foundation, Inc. of two classroom buildings in Barangays Tambler and San Isidro.

The first school building will be turned over at 10:00 am tomorrow, February 21, 2012 to BANISIL NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL, Tambler.  This is a joint project of SM Foundation, Inc with SM Prime Holdings Inc. and Banco de Oro Foundation.

In the afternoon, of the following day, Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 2:00pm, it will be the turn of the Gen. Santos City SPED Integrated School to receive a new school building.  This time, it will be SM Foundation, Inc.’s solo project.

The Honorable City Mayor Darlene Antonino Custodio will be on hand to witness and sign the Deeds of Acceptance for the two new school buildings from SM Foundation, Inc.  along with DepEd officials of the city.

SMFI will also be donating books to the two school beneficiaries.

According to Ms. Acharon, this is just the first in a series of Corporate Social Responsibility programs to be unleashed by SM Foundation Inc. and her partners on the city.  Once the doors of their biggest mall in Mindanao, the SM CITY General Santos are finally opened next quarter, we should expect more of the same.

Abangan!

I have also read in the leading newspaper last year that the SMFI has already started accepting SM scholars for GenSan HS grads entering college. The schools they have choosen and accredited (after careful evaluation) in our city is the NDDU & MSU. This is also present in other key cities in the country where SM has a mall. Prestigious Universities and Colleges are being tapped to this long running scholar foundation by SM. Congrats & Goodluck to those who will be chosen.

@White Knight, they actually have 16 scholars belonging to the first batch already. GenSan is fortunate indeed. :)

Thanks Sir A for the blog! Indeed, SM has finally arrived in Gensan. I am hoping and praying that SM Foundation will have more projects here in GenSan especially SOCCKSARGEN.

    Mabuhay!
