Happy 73rd Foundation Day, General Santos City!

Happy 73rd Foundation Anniversary celebration to all our readers from General Santos City!

From a mere dusty prairie in the 40s when NLSA Chairman General Paulino Santos first arrived here along with the first batch of pioneering settlers from Luzon and the Visayas, GenSan has grown tremendously over the past decades, thanks in part to its winner of a people and a dynamic leadership.

"THIS MORNING'S PARADA NG LAHI TO SIGNAL THE OPENING OF THE CELEBRATIONS FOR THE 73RD FOUNDATION DAY OF GENERAL SANTOS CITY COMMEMORATING THE DAY THAT GENERAL PAULINO SANTOS LANDED ON THE SHORES OF THE SARANGANI BAY ALONG WITH THE FIRST BATCH OF PIONEERS. PHOTO SHOWS MAYOR DARLENE ANTONINO CUSTODIO, MINDANAO DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY CHAIR LUWALHATI ANTONINO AND CITY ADMINISTRATOR ATTY. JONG GONZALES, AMONG OTHERS."

Used to be known mainly as the Tuna Capital of the Philippines and the hometown of Manny Pacquiao, General Santos has proceeded to be known as the Home of Champions!  Think Shamcey Supsup, think XB GenSan and True Colors, think Melai Cantiveros, think Gerald Anderson, think Nonito Donaire, among other generals who have brought fame, glory and honor to the City by the Bay.

"THE HARDWORKING CITY MAYOR OF GENSAN, HONORABLE DARLENE MAGNOLIA ANTONINO-CUSTODIO, RESPLENDENT IN HER SIMPLE FILIPINIANA DRESS THIS MORNING"

What better way to clebrate this but to go out today and join the festivities at the culmination of the festival marking this milestone, the 2012 KALILANGAN!

On that note, here is the invitation from Mayor Darlene Antonino Custodio aired over the different provincial stations of GMA TV Network, including our very own GMA TV 8 GenSan!

Mabuhay ang GenSan!  Mabuhay ang mga generals!!!  Mabuhay ang mga champions!  Happy 73rd Foundation Anniversary!!
