ShutterBlog: A Travel PhotoBlog Workshop

06/07/2012 by bariles in Blog World, Photography with 7 Comments - 1,205 Views

On Tuesday, June 12, 2012, as the country celebrates its 114th Independence Day, about 25 active members of the Soccsksargen Bloggers will be converging at GenSan View Resort, one of the city’s famed inland resorts for another noteworthy activity ensured to strengthen their reputation as Mindanao’s Funnest Blogging Circle.

it’s the SHUTTERBLOG – an exclusive Travel PhotoBlog Workshop for them with Davao City’s top photojournalist/blogger, Ms. Jojie Alcantara!

To those who were just born a few months ago, here’s some facts and trivia about Ms. Jojie Alcantara:

JOJIE ALCANTARA is a Filipina writer and photographer who dabbles between photography and the arts.

Since 1995, she maintains a lifestyle and travel column in SunStar Davao. In 2010, she started writing a travel column for Manila Bulletin. She transitioned into a serious photographer in 2000 when she started documenting her travel adventures.

Armed with her Canon DSLR cameras, dental floss, asthma inhaler, and a dash of reckless bravado, she discovers exciting, unheard of places in her personal quest to promote the islands of the Philippines, particularly Mindanao. Her passion for travel and photography has brought her to places in Asia but her most rewarding trips were the unknown islands in her country where she encounters enchanting places, queer folks, strange rituals and suspicious, inedible-looking food.

She contributes to magazines and other publications, and had her photo of Mount Mayon published as cover of Mabuhay Magazine on the May 2011 issue. While she also has television stints as host and public events, most of her fulfilling moments are quietly capturing nature’s beauty at its highest (vivid sunrises and sunsets). She accepts commissioned projects on a case to case basis. You can view her updated images on Pbase, Facebook and other blogs.

This solo traveler is constantly inspired by discoveries in life. Views failure and mistake as minor setbacks. Continuously reinvents herself as she moves on. Dog lover. Proud Dabawenya.

This is not the first time that Ms. Jojie will be sharing her craft’s secrets with the Soccsksargen Bloggers.  On December 2009, she taught them the rudiments of Photojournalism at The Farm in Koronadal CITY, courtesy of Asia United Bank.

Instrumental to bringing her back to GenSan three years after that is Project O! Consultants together with CameraHaus, the #1 dealer of cameras and camera accessories in the city located inside KCC Mall of GenSan, and GenSan View Resort, the Official Venue.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without GenSan News Online Mag and GandaEverSoMuch.com, of the Fat & Fab Brothers.

Ms. Jojie will be visiting CameraHaus at KCC Mall of GenSan on JUNE 11, 2012 at 5:30pm.  We are inviting the Soccsksargen Bloggers and Friends there for a meet-and-greet session.

Thank you Ms. Jojie Alcantara, from the bottom of our hearts for agreeing to this workshop again.  We are also grateful to CameraHaus and GenSan View Resort for being the kind and generous supporters that they are.  Mabuhay kayo!

NOTE:  The photo of the giant Diana fish used in the poster above is from a shot taken by Ms. Jojie at the General Santos City Fishport sometime last year.
