SM City Gen. Santos to finally open Aug 9-10

06/14/2012 by bariles in GenSan News with 34 Comments - 10,552 Views

Okey guys, let me make this short and sweet!

After so much delay, I got the FINAL WORD that the most awaited opening of Henry Sy‘s biggest project in Mindanao, which is SM City General Santos,  will definitely happen in less than two months from now!

The exact dates?

August 9, 2012 for the Blessing (with select guests, hopefully including moi) and August 10, 2012 for the Grand Opening of SM City GenSan!

SM City General Santos as it looks in a photo Bariles took yesterday, June 13, 2012

The date comes right before the start of the Ghost Month which is from August 17, 2012 to September 15, 2012, a period which the Chinese avoid.

With its opening date finally secured, expect to see a few weeks (or days) from now, vertical tarpaulines all over GenSan announcing something which will take “shopping to the next level“.

Yey!  That’s it!  No more guessing games!!!  Eventually, we will get to to enjoy and relish what it’s like to shop and dine at the country’s most exciting shopping destination, right at our very own shores very, very soon when SM City General Santos opens its doors for us!

This is the biggest project in mindanao. Cheers. Sm lanang, although bigger by insignificant numbers, has lots of partners while smgs is sy’s biggest investment :)

  4. mallrat06/14/2012 at 6:56 PMReply

congrats gensan..by the way,sm has corrected the figures,sm lanang is slightly bigger at 144ksqm while smcgs is only 125ksqm =)

@mallrat, SM Lanang is still under construction and when it’s finished, that’s when they get that distinction from SM GenSan. Cheers! :D

See you ka dyan! Mangwarta na sad si Henry Sy diri sa Mindanao. Dapat pera sa Mindanao para sa Mindanao..Nganong mga dato sa Mindanao di dyud patindug ug ingon ani kadako nga mall.

    • killedbyfaith06/15/2012 at 8:36 PMReply

      are you stupid or something?

do you even study economics or have a slight background in business? or better yet, do you even have a brain?

Having an mall in the region is the best thing to happen to a city, regardless if the owner is from Mindanao or not. The job opportunities, the taxes, more business opportunities, the list goes on. It’s a chain reaction.
Now your telling us that why aren’t there any rich people who would build a mall? Simple. IT’S NOT THEIR FUCKING BUSINESS! Do you think it’s that easy to build a mall? It takes a lot of connections, a lot of clearances, things that only people like Henry Sy could do.

I am really sad that someone as stupid as you existed in this world. I can’t even believe that you’re still alive.

Sorry if you can’t understand my English.
Tatagalugin ko nalang para maintindihan mo.
      TANGA KA!

          Nakakatawa no?

Well~ here’s to hoping that the opening shops will actually be exciting… And its Friday to boot~ Classes are still in session… to stall possible influx of students and to limit customers on Friday and Saturday? Hmmm~ what stores would open in SM GenSan? Well aside from the usual stores of course and other partners of the SM MAll chains… Oh well, just hoping that this SM’s going to have numerous baggage counters unlike all the other branches, if not well, there are other malls in GenSan~ Hope it really blows away the current competition like they are promising!

Wow..this is one proves again that Gensan is indeed booming. So glad to see my small hometown improved, and shine from the eyes of many investors and because of this more job for the constituents of Gensan.
On the other hand,I also hope that together with the growing of malls and other businesses government officials would also make ways to have our road fixed, widened and or construct new ones to at least show where the businesses taxes where being spent because sadly I would say roads are mostly in bad shape and the size are the same 20 yrs ago where only few transportations vehicles are running.
Anyway…..still i look forward to see my beautiful hometown again with or without malls. SHINE GENSAN SHINE!GOD BLESS!

Finally, the long wait is just around the bend, there is no need for me to drive 3 hours to Davao just to sip a tiny starbucks or munch on a yellocab pizza, ay nga pala meron ba yellow cab nakupo baka kelangan ko pa rin mag magrive nito hehehe…nevertheless, at least th SM complex is here and its just a matter of time na papasok na dito ang yello cab, coffebeans and krispykreme…hay takaw ko talaga basta food…

  18. ariel06/24/2012 at 12:27 PMReply

Que malaki ke maliit ang SM Gensan it doesnt matter what matter is the fact that SM decided that business here in this side of Mindanao is reaching feverpitch, kaya they decided to splash in here, bringing with them good job opportunities for the generals isnt that something to be happy? while other neighboring cities here in Mindanao are wilting or dying (zambo, iligan, and oh that terrorist laden cotabato city and neighboring maguindanao, baka dito sila manghasik sa atin ng kanilang lagim wag naman sana Panginoon with no opportunities for their citizens there), the exception of Davao and Cagayan de Oro of coarse, the rest are just dying …and with their populuation growing exponentially adding burden to our governemnt …so Generals keep watch of a massive influx of these people from dying cities to flood in our doorstep, beloved Gensan baka mamaya aagawan pa tayo nila ng mga job opportunities na para sa tiga Gensan, hahaha….

what i am trying to say is that with SM, Robinsons and soon Ayala in Gensan, they open a floodgates of opportubities for the generals to improve economically kaya kahit naman paano kahit na sabihin natin na nakakapera sina Sy and ohers, theres no denying the fact that they help provide job opportunities for us in here…

So tuloy na talaga ang grand opening sa August hahaha, malamang isa ako sa mga unang maki uzi whats insde SM hahaha ay sana naman di ako maubisan ng parking area hahaha
