Red Trellis Seafood Garden’s new, exciting dishes

Last night , I and two other companions had the chance to revisit General Santos City’s top-rated restaurant owned by our good friend, George Sandoval, the Red Trellis Seafood Garden.

Since it opened three years ago, Red Trellis has been known for its Asian Fusion Cuisine, among them its varied seafood offerings, which it displays live at  giant aquariums and fish cages inside its garden setting in Barangay Lagao.   Over this time, it has managed to maintain a growing list of loyal clientele being the only one in GenSan offering such fare.

Bestsellers are its succulent fat king crabs cooked in coco milk and its giant prawns cooked Szechuan style.

George however has continued to add new dishes to his menu, mostly not found in other dining establishments in the city, and thus giving the generals more reason to dine there.

And so last night, we sampled his two latest culinary surprises and boy, we were floored by how delicious they were!

One of them is the Curacha cooked in Coco Milk and Aligue, which had all four of us licking the spicy sauce right from our fingertips  all throughout our meal.  (We ate kamayan-style.)

Diners can choose any of the live curacha at the resto’s cages themselves.  Compared to their King Crabs which are being sold at P100 per 100 grams, the curacha will only set you back P80 per 100 grams.

We also feasted on their organically-grown Spring Chicken, which I must say, are soo tender and sooo juicy – the best I have ever tried in these parts.

RED TRELLIS SEAFOOD GARDEN’S ORGANIC SPRING CHICKEN WHICH IS SO TENDER AND JUICY!

This dish is for the budget conscious since Red Trellis Seafood Garden’s Spring Chicken can be yours for only P180 per order.  This consists of two roasted spring chickens cut in halves and served with fish crackers and veggie garnish. Perfect for two persons!

So there you have it, a dish for those who have the money to splurge and another dish for those who want something simpler and more affordable.

Red Trellis Seafood Garden is open at noon and every night at its location across the NDDU-IBED campus, Tiongson Street Extension, Lagao, Gen. Santos City.

For reservations and advanced orders (a must!), please call, 302-CRAB or (083) 302-2722.
