8-hour brownout for GenSan on Feb 17

Posted on by in with 5 Comments

Have you been noticing lately that from 3 hours, our brownouts have been extended to four hours already, making our nights and days more agonizing?  And to think that it is not even summer yet!

Last year, General Santos City suffered the worst browouts ever, with daily 8-hour power outtages for months!

And you know what, that scenario will repeat itself tomorrow evening, Sunday, February 17, with this advisory from SOCOTECO II.  Some areas in downtown GenSan will be experiencing an 8-hour power interruption!

THIS COULD BE WHAT GENERAL SANTOS IS SAYING!

But don’t you worry.  This longer browount is due to “facilitate the erection of 80 ft. concrete pole that will serve as tapping pole for KCC Veranza Mall along J. Catolico Sr. Avenue…”

KCC Veranza, upscale version of KCC Mall of GenSan is opening soon this quarter and they need their own share of electricity, of course.  Which brings us to the question:  can SOCOTECO II supply all these new malls with the electricity they need?

Of course, you already know the answer to that.  Meanwhile, here’s that SOCOTECTO PRESS ADVISORY.

FROM AN OFFICIAL SOCOTECO II PRESS RELEASE:

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP)
serves notice of scheduled shutdown of SOCOTECO II’s
transmission lines along its Ligaya, Main Office and
Leon Llido substations on February 17, 2013 from
12 midnight to 8 in the morning (8 hours).

This is in view of SOCOTECO II’s shutdown request to
facilitate the erection of 80 ft. concrete pole which will
serve as tapping pole for KCC Veranza Mall along
J. Catolico Sr. Ave., General Santos City.
