Long Holiday! Nov 4 is a Muslim Holiday in GenSan!

Posted on by in , with 0 Comments

Thanks to the instagram photo of City Hall beauty Tiny Mutalib who shared it on Facebook, it’s now officially confirmed that November 4, 2013 has been declared as a Local Public Holiday, being the AMON JADID (ISLAMIC NEW YEAR) by the City Government of General Santos.

This is by virtue of Article 169 of Presidential Decree No. 1083, otherwise known as the Code of Muslim Personal Laws of the Philippines and the Civil Service Commission Resolution No. 81-1277.

Check out the image below.

THE SIGNED DOCUMENT BY GENSAN MAYOR RONNEL RIVERA DECLARING NOV 4 AS COMMON LOCAL HOLIDAY.

This development effectively gives the generals a FOUR-DAY LONG WEEKEND, starting on November 1! Yay!

And did you know that aside from November 1 and 2 which are Christian Holidays and November 4 which is an Islam Holiday, the people of India are also celebrating their Deepavali (Festival of Lights) on November 3, Sunday?  Cool huh?

And so to our Christian friends, Happy All Souls and Saints Days; Happy Deepavali to our Indian friends and Happy Islamic New Year to our Muslim brethren!  Let’s all celebrate in peace and harmony!
