Watch how Boy Abunda grills US Ambassador Goldberg
US Ambassador to the Philippines Phillip Goldberg is on the spotlight in “The Bottomline With Boy Abunda” this Saturday, November 8, 2014 as Boy Abunda grills him on controversial issues with regard to the transparency of the United SatesS and its commitment to seek justice for the 26-year-old Jennifer Laude who was allegedly killed by Private First Class Joseph Scott Pemberton.
Ambassador Goldberg served as Ambassador to Bolivia from 2006 to 2008, Chief of Mission in Pristina, Kosovo, from 2004 to 2006 and Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Santiago, Chile, from 2001 to 2004. On November 21, 2013, he was sworn in as US Ambassador to the Philippines. In the program, Goldberg explains to Mr. Abunda his views on the Visiting Forces Agreement and how it was designed to “protect both nations”.
From Boy Abunda’s persistent questioning, Goldberg will also explain the necessity of the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement as a means to expand the cooperation and partnership of his country with the Philippines and how it would help solve the country’s counterterrorism issues.
He will tackle these intriguing questions: How can Filipinos expect mutual defense cooperation? Is the Laude murder case unrelated to the PH and US alliance? Was it a mutual decision between the Philippines and US to place Pemberton under US custody?
