Region 12 or Soccsksargen comprises the four provinces of North and South Cotabato, Sarangani Province, and Sultan Kudarat, and the five cities of Koronadal, Tacurong, General Santos, Kidapawan, and Cotabato.

Ms. Lopoz further revealed that the proposed Aerotropolis will develop about 200 hectares of property surrounding the General Santos International Airport to an integrated complex that will house business parks, amusement parks, hotels, an integrated food terminal, food processing and manufacturing plants, and shopping malls.

She added, “GenSan has a great potential to be a hub for the consolidation of products and services in the region due to its proximity to major economic centers of Mindanao and the BIMP-EAGA (Brunei- Indonesia- Malaysia- Phiippines East ASEAN Growth Area).”

If realized, the Gensan Aerotropolis will speed up the social and economic growth, not only of the region, but of the whole island of Mindanao, as well serving as a major international gateway.
