Tomorrow, June 30, 2012, at exactly 3:00pm,  the local government of General Santos City, led by Mayor Darlene Antonino-Custodio and Representative  Pedro Acharon, Jr. will be conducting the groundbreaking, unveiling of design and time-capsule laying ceremonies for a new building.

This is the General Santos City Business Service Hub Building!

This four storey building which will rise at the back of the proposed City Museum (old City Hall) is part of a “comprehensive program designed to enhance the business and investment environment of the city, which encompasses upgrading of human resource competency, construction of environment-friendly infrastructure, and the streamlining of processes.”

It shall feature investment promotion and facilitation services, advisory services on procedures and investment areas qualified for incentives, business licensing and registration service, building and occupancy permit issuances, employment matching service and knowledge management (databank of business info in GenSan & Region 12). This structure will also be a Green Building because it will have energy-saving features and will be recycling its own water, among other things.

It will eventually house offices from the Local and National Government that are involved in attracting new businesses, the creation of new business enterprises and in the renewal of continuing ventures.  It will be a sort of one-stop-center for business processes in GenSan.

The ground breaking tomorrow of the Gen. Santos City Business Service Hub building will also be attended by DILG Secretary Jesse M. Robredo, Dept. of Budget and Management Secretary Florencio B. Abad and Mindanao Development Authority Secretary Luwalhati R. Antonino (former Representative of the 1st District of South Cotabato).

The building’s design and features is the product of the collaboration of the City Mayor’s Office, the City Engineering Office and award-winning Architect Michael Ang.
