Sept 5 is a Special Non-working Holiday in GenSan
The Office of the President of the Philippines, through Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr., signed Proclamation No. 638 declaring Thursday, September 5, 2013 as a SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY in General Santos City.
September 5, 2013 marks the Opening of the 15th Tuna Festival commemorating GenSan’s Charter Day Anniversary.
For the 2nd year in a row, what should have been the culmination of the Tuna Festival on September 5th is only its Opening. So for this year, the organizers have scheduled instead, the festivities to formally end (with its highlight, the Streetdancing Competition) on September 9th, a Monday.
Why not on Sunday, when the locals and visitors alike would have been free to witness it, is a question even I have been wanting the Tuna Festival event organizers to answer.
